I like your voice, but could do with subtitles as well (I'm a bit deaf!). Most scenic route I've ever been on - hmm, difficult. Maybe the Highland Line to Aviemore and Inverness. Maybe the line in Northern Ireland between Ballymena and Derry (it goes right along the sea). Although the mid-Sussex line is hard to beat, especially in spring and summer..... Maybe - oh, so many stunning railway journeys, I can't choose!

Nice to see the "Portuguese Class 20s" still going (even if they don't sound much like a Class 20 at idle, as it's effectively half a Class 50 engine). You can certainly hear the similarity when it throttles up though

It's sad to see 4 metre gauge lines closed. But what it's more sad (and surprising at the same time) is that they were closed down relatively at recent dates.
@wavesnbikes2 жыл бұрын
Can they become tourist lines?
@altaragonte242 жыл бұрын
@@wavesnbikes I think they could, but if the landscape is not "astonishing" no one would invest in this line. On the other hand, here in Mediterranean Countries the love for trains is not as high as other countries such as England or Germany, so yeah maybe they would restore 1 line or so, but probably they wouldn't do anything at all

5:25 “I don’t understand these powerless soap dispensers. They don’t seem to work.” I offer three suggestions: 1) Like the rolling stock you noted, these dispensers are very old so was state-of-the-art back in the day. 2) No chance to steal a bar of soap, and 3) Probably more hygienic/less disgusting than a used bar of soap. How many do you think rinse off a soap bar after using it? Cheers. 👍🏻

Classic traction, proper full-drop windows, and some awesome scenery - all the things that used to make rail travel a pleasure. (If you overlook the Cult of the Mask, which seems to have extended even to the remotest corners of the network.) Who cares if the "new trains are faster" when you have seats like bags of cement, double glazed and tinted windows that seal you off from the outside world, noisy air conditioning, and of course endless nannying auto-announcements.

Love your vids but I'm not really a fan of voiceovers. Having said that yours is pretty good Superalb as you don't come across as condescending like the awful Paul Lucas (I really don't know what possesses him to think he is good at presenting video content!) Love the sound of the CP Class 1400. As you said the commonality with the BR Class 20 is there to be heard with the unmistakable sound of the EE 8CSVT diesel engine. I have been lucky enough to have lived in Scotland and New Zealand which has enabled me to travel on three of the worlds most scenic railways... Glasgow-Fort William-Mallaig, Inverness-Kyle of Lochalsh and the Christchurch to Greymouth TranzAlpine.
