I rode the trace a month ago in May for the third time. Set the cruise at 50 on the 2018 Goldwing and sat back and relaxed. Spent the first night at meriwether lewis campground and the second night at rocky springs. Didnt make too many stops since ive ridden it before. I find its a great relaxing ride since you dont have to deal with traffic and trucks. Great video and it brought back memories

Excellent video. I'm a transplanted southern boy living in NW Washington state (work transfer). This one has always been on my bucket list of rides to do! One of these days, I will ride the FJR cross-country, ride the Trace and visit relatives that still live in Natchez, MS and the Nashville, TN area. Thanks for sharing.

Good spot to pull over before you get to the Tennessee River Bridge heading into Alabama on the left. If you wait until the sun is setting you get some great pictures.

I got to experience some of the Natchez this year, we were in Mississippi and I loved every bit of it. Great video. And yes Nachez Mississippi it is, you cross over the Might Mississippi River and you are in Louisiana

It is Natchez not Notchez. It ends in MS not LA. There is no Notchez LA.

@@MotoMengy There wasn't any problem with how you spelled it. It was the pronunciation you used, you were using a o sound where it should have been an a sound.

Nicely done! I did a solo ride from Natchez MS (MI is Michigan!) to Tupelo before I headed home to MI. Yes, 50 mph can get tiring when you're on a touring bike that likes to do 80! I rode my '18 Voyager 1700. I may go back later this year and do Nashville to Tupelo.

Did the Trace many years ago from MS north in our diesel pusher motorhome.
@MotoMengy8 ай бұрын
it would probably be fun in that, stopping at every scenic or historic spot along the way, sleeping in the motorhome wherever you end up not having to worry about hotels. I honestly think I'd love to do the Trace in my Model Y, taking my time and doing a lot of stopping and exploring, sleeping in the car.
@harryhowell56448 ай бұрын
That is a great ride. We did it in 2022. Only problem was road construction had one section in Alabama closed. Natchez starts in Mississippi from the south,up through Alabama into Tennessee. Best to ride it on a weekday. It took us a day and a half.
@MotoMengy8 ай бұрын
We had a short section in MI which was closed for construction. The detour off the Trace didn't take long so I didn't even film it.
@BootsandJeansRiders8 ай бұрын
Yeah, the Trace is boring if you don't get off the bike and really explore it. No real good lookout points or twisted areas (except the northern part). We "lived" on the trace for 21 days on two separate visits and had a blast. We stayed at the 3 free campgrounds. If you don't mind...Check out our Natchez Trace playlist, I think you will like it.
@MotoMengy8 ай бұрын
I'll have to check it out, see if you show stuff we missed! We would have liked to stop more often but we did have a schedule to try and keep.
@rodneybarcus22338 ай бұрын
So many animals on that road. You’ve got to keep your head on a swivel and your speed down. Some say do it in October when the leaves are in full fall color.
@MotoMengy8 ай бұрын
We saw a few critters during the day but man once the sun starts to fall the animals REALLY came out. I would not want to ride the Trace during the night.

Awesome Mengy. The mania never ends. Went right through there last week on the way to Knoxville to Deal’s Gap/Tail of the Dragon and the Great Smokey Mountains. The to Daniel Boone State Park in Kentucky. There was some pucker factor riding in throughout those hills. 2865 miles in total from Dallas. Woohoo! If you have time check out F6B_Adventures and Slappy’s Adventures to catch some of Road Glide’s and the boys epic riding. Ya’ll looking fantastic! Never a dull moment on two wheels with Mengy Mania & Co. I’ll over-look the gloves this time cause your Moto Mengy rides tune was so cool. 😂 Rock on Mengy!

You left out the best part for cycling on the Trace. No big trucks throwing stuff off the tires at you. Mostly 50 MPH speed limit. But if you get caught and ticketed that ticket is very very expensive.

You're killing me how you kept pronouncing Natchez and a few other towns. Tupelo is a great half-way point with hotels, restaurants, gas, Elvis and the downtown is cool. Vanelli's Bristo downtown has the best pizza ever!! In Alabama, around Tupelo and Jackson, you will encounter folks using the road to commute. Park Rangers have unmarked vehicles (trucks, cars, suvs) so keep that in mind, the fines start at $250 and go up. There has been some shady stuff happen on the Trace so if you stop, just be aware of your surroundings and those around you. Plan your gas stops before riding it. It is a great relaxing road to cruise. Some find it boring but others enjoy it. If you want to do 80mph, just take the interstate. Been traveling the road for over 30 yrs. Always be alert to wildlife. Deer do stupid stuff. Turkeys not much of an issue. Turtles and armadillos will cross the road. Seen horses and cows that got out of their pastures on the road. If riding, try to get off before the sun goes down due to wildlife. Very hard to see. People head deep in their smartphones are a problem. They will cross that double line.
