When I was station at MCAS el Toro we used to visit Cooks corner in the late 70’s early 80’s. Back then it was a biker bar in the middle of no where. Back then it was not a family friendly location just a biker bar. I still have a tee shirt from there. A lot of good memories.

Cooks Corner "used" to be located between el Toro and Irvine Lake. Trabuco, and Modjeska were small hamlets nestled amongst the Oak Groves. Now its got housing tracts coming up to it and a constant traffic. Sigh...The hide Out just reopened several years ago. It's still nice

This place has the vibes. We don't have biker bars in Australia so it's always fun to swing by when I'm in SoCal. It's quite the trek to get there though, a 13 hour flight from Sydney to San Francisco then another 6 hours or so ride from Union City to Huntington Beach and about another hour to cooks.

Me & my buddy do that ride all the time. Down the 15 to Ortega thru to cooks. We always stop at Hafey Farms off Ortega, good jerky! More fun to take the back way into cooks tho. Take Antonio parkway north off Ortega to Santa Margarita parkway take a right then left on Plano trabuco. Takes you to Trabuco Canyon road into cooks.

The fire that caused all that damage on Ortega highway was called the Airport fire. The fire was started accidentally by Orange County maintenance crews in September of 2024 and burned for a month. It looks to me like you went to Cooks on a Saturday or very early on a Sunday. Sunday's afternoon time Cooks really goes off. Besides being family friendly all bikes are welcome. It's neutral ground, all clubs are welcome and get along.

That was one crazy fire!! We definitely got there a bit early on Sunday but more and more bikes were pulling up as we got ready to head out. Definitely a hoppin' spot!

Yea that is messed up. He straight put his hand down for the metric guy and back up for the next Harley. Someone who is a true motorcycle enthusiast loves anything with 2 wheels. I wave at guys on scooters whether my Harley or sport bikes. They are out there riding and taking the chance on not going home to their family just these guys and everyone else.

The suspect in the Cook's Corner shooting was the very first police officer to write me a moving violation as a teen driver in High School. I remember seeing him again after I hired on as a police cadet soon after graduating from High School and relating to him that it was he who had scratched me that ticket on Henderson Road a couple years earlier, and we chuckled about it. He always treated me kindly. I realize that he had what most would consider an odd personality, and he could be abrasive at times. What he did at Cook's Corner was and remains incomprehensible, yet it does not change the good memories I have of him, nor will I allow his final actions to deny or forget the positive things which he did in our community and within our department. I realize and acknowledge that he was obviously not in a reasonable or prudent frame of mind when he did what he did at Cook's Corner. I remain saddened that his wife was critically injured, that others were killed, yet I reflect back on the man that I knew and worked alongside for 13 years. I still to this day cannot wrap my mind around what he did here. I mourn those lives lost and injured in this event. A total tragedy all around.
