Thanks for your vids with your S40. I am picking mine up in a couple of days, a 2015 with less than 600 miles. I have been downsizing for a decade as I aged with over 50 years riding. This is my last stop to my last riding seasons. I am curious what you would suggest to do first to aid reliability. The S40 is set too lean from the factory and has bad backfire here in the States. Do you recommend enriching the air fuel adjusting screw out by half a turn or so? I plan on leaving the stock exhaust and air cleaner on. Thanks from California!

Adjuster screw only adjusts the idle circuit, bigger main jet one size up should be enough. It’s a single cylinder with a wasted spark set up so you will never get rid of the back fire

Savage large single.

Just bought a savage, wanted to do something similar with my exhaust. Was wondering if changing the exhaust caused a loss in power/tourqe? Also was curious if you did any carb work to compensate. Thanks!
@mynameisdaryl.35954 жыл бұрын
Mack D no loss was noticeable, but I did change out the jet after about a month to be safe, depending on what year yours is they came out of the factory running as lean as they could safely to pass emissions laws around the world. I didn’t change my air cleaner so changing my exhaust wouldn’t of changed the flow too much since the factory air cleaner would of still been restricting the air flow. So re jetting the carby with or without a exhaust change should really be done, and when selecting the right size jets it comes down to what country you are in and also what altitude you are riding at, places like here in New Zealand doesn’t really matter about altitude because of the way the country’s land is. All the best with your new toy and hope it brings you many miles of happy riding

With my C50 at 600lbs, I figured a 2nd bike, maybe a CR250 dual, but the S40 is so light it could work!

My Name Is Daryl. Hey Yupp I got me one got a bit of after fire any idea how to sort
@mynameisdaryl.35954 жыл бұрын
Chu Me If you are meaning the bike is back firing I would suggest re jetting the carby and start by going one size up, remember it's a big single banger that uses wasted spark system so you will never stop the back firing completely, but you can tame it down some.

I recently turned my risers on my S40 and it feels much better. Handlebars are a bit higher and pushed forward allowing my arms to stretch out further.
