I loved these so much as a kid. They have such a Twilight Zone feeling (when it's not as crowded as in the vid- I remember them being pretty empty always) as if you'd take them to the next floor and suddenly be back in another time period...

These wooden escalators are relics, and it's amazing they're still in operation. 😍 I appreciate you knocking on the wood as a demonstration. 😂 Thank you for sharing this ASMR escalator ride, AK! 🤗

I'm so glad to see these again and that they still exist at Macy's. I rode them when I was a kid in the 70's. You had to use these to get to the Toys department in the west end of the store. There used to be a great train set up and electric cars there that I loved seeing.

I think those wooden escalators are flammable. I remember in London, in the 90s there was in awful fire in the tube because a wooden escalator caught on fire.

Wow AK…so many of my early teen and high school memories watching this. Haven’t thought about those wooden escalators in years. Then in my late 20s, I worked a block and a half away from Macy’s for many years as a Schiffli embroidery designer. Sending this video to my friend. Thanks AK 😀👍

Apparently, the last escalator on the London Underground was removed in 2014 ... which is crazy given that they caused a major inferno in the late 1980s. I shouldn't be surprised given that thousands of Brits are living in highly combustible apartment buildings, years after 72 people were killed in the 2017 Grenfell Tower inferno.

Since when could that escalator be wooden made from Macy's Herald Square AK?😳 Like I'm getting shocked with that but it's still dominating!😅🤩😍😎 And not all escalators are the same to the silver ones!😄😏 Action Kid thanks for showing that wooden escalator ride but still dominating in NYC Macy's Herald Square!😌🤗😇🥰🥹

they should take the time to lightly sand it with 600-1000 grit sandpaper then put a medium brown stain on it..
