Hey Everyone,
I was lucky enough to be invited to the opening/ launch day of the new Yamaha Off-road Experience Center. A building that has been a while in the making but sure as heck looks absolutely amazing!
I was part of a press/ journo/ moto vlogger group who were invited to see the new facility but also try some of Yamahas Off-road motorcycles with the Jones'!
If you are interested in this school, you can find some more information about it here:

Well, I hope you guys enjoyed watching the vlog as much as I enjoyed participating! (despite my initial mental wobble LOL)
Thanks everyone!

If that was Gerraint Jones who you rode with he was the greatest enduro rider of his time. It was like personal training from an ex world champion. I rode in the same event as him many moons ago and him and his fellow championship riders were so considerate of us lesser riders.

After a life of street riding I was over 40 when I decided to learn dirt bike riding. It took me 3 years to be relaxed doing it. Have not done it for about 15 years and honestly miss trail riding. Just could not afford to do it all. Watching and listening to you took me back in time. Great fun. Thank you

You did really well on those bike's Kate....enduro and motocross machines are very daunting if you are not use to them. I grew up on dirt bike's......riding and racing them from about the age of 7 and I still come off every now and then, so you've got nothing to worry about .....awesome going. 😊👍

The wr250 would have probably handled the trail much easier than the old fashioned 230. Suspension and handling are not great on those bikes.

Did this in 2015… awesome , found the 250 to be excellent…and surprisingly comfy …the staff were very friendly, helpful and patient… came away with a big grin and a swollen ankle after an off in the forest section… but more than that , came away with better throttle and clutch control which has stood me well when city riding and filtering through heavy traffic… if you’ve never done an off road day I advise you to take part in this one…. Great experience and thoroughly enjoyable. I need a return visit 👍👍👍

Yeah if you do this once a month you just get a better feel for a bike on loose surfaces and when you get back just doing road bike stuff you will feel much more ready for any loss of traction. Aiming to be slightly aggressive as you go helps challenge yourself.

Fair play Kate, you did really well to go well outside your comfort zone. Not only that, but to admit to yourself, others and on camera, that you were having difficulties?! Good on ya. You should be extremely proud of yourself. There are so many female vloggers, who try to prove something, and won't (openly) admit they are having issues, it's very refreshing to see an honest female vlogger, who's NOT, all, "Oh look at me! look how good I am!". And, who's prepared to admit and show, when things don't go quite according to plan! But also, to be brave enough, to give it a go!! Keep it up, keep being true to yourself, you're doing a cracking job. Grumps.

There’s a small circular patch of ornamental gravel alongside my drive where a small tree once stood. It’s less than a metre in diameter, but sometimes I have to ride over it if the car is parked at a jaunty angle. This is probably the full extent of my off-road experience - I don’t even think both wheels make it off solid ground together 😆 I’d love to give this a go, looks both exhilarating and exhausting in equal measure 👍

Brill stuff Kate, and you did precisely the right thing asking for help when you felt out of your depth. I really love riding my Aprilia Tuareg 660 on the green lanes and trails, but I feel far more confident on my enduro bike doing it... It shows that different bike backgrounds will give different riding skills and comfort zones. My Aprilia will become a road only bike through winter mainly I think, I will def fall off, so at least I know I can pick up the Beta if I drop it, the Aprilia is a wedge heavier. Really enjoyed the vid, and seeing you have a go even though the offroad riding is a push on your comfort zone

@@UsernameKate I love it, so far it has done everything my enduro bike has done off road, and it has the ability to munch miles too. Awesome bike. The knobbly tyres are not great on tarmac though, and it gets a bit of a weave at speed due to them, don't think it is an issue on stock tyres though.

It’s so fun to see you do this stuff. A bit scary it can be. Certainly bumpy and wet. Even when you feel insecure you manage to overcome your fear and keep on pushing - that was impressive. Then you go on and tackle the world raid and just had lots of fun riding. It makes me think that maybe the ttr wasn’t set up properly to start with - maybe to hard to ride on 🤔 You are not tall or seem to be very heavy. Those things affect the riding experience a lot of the shocks are not adjusted properly you will likely get a poor feedback from the bike riding it. The world raid is as I understand it a fantastic bike for its use. Really look forward to see what you do next - and thanks for sharing♥️
@UsernameKate

It's just older tech and more budget components, it wasn't the bike that was the issue, it was my confidence levels on it, I will admit! But it was a cracking day and I loved the world raid! That was special to ride offroad 😁

Offroad, the suspension of the world raid just glides over bumps whereas you feel every single bump on the standard one. Can't really comment about the difference on normal road conditions but made a massive difference offroad. I can't comment on the added weight with the fuel tank either as the world raid I rode was almost empty. Thanks!

I think from watching your channel for a while now its safe to say there isn't anything you can't ride, I think you prefer roads over loose gravel though for sure. You always seem nervous on anything loose but it's clear its a first ride confidence thing and not that you lack skill. As soon as you had a 1to1 with the leader you were laughing and enjoying the scenery. They should have put you on the same bike as the rest at the start, that confusion unsettled you as well. What's up haven't they seen a female rider before?
