Good video Cue, I would've added 8. ABS. I was in a discussion with somebody who got upset over that. They were of the mindset that their bike's ABS system would save them if the crap hit the fan. That is not always the case. When I went through motor school we practiced maximum braking or as some call it, threshold braking. I still practice that. We would do this to maximize the use of the brakes without activating ABS. The goal when braking is to be in full control at all times. When your ABS kicks in for whatever reason, you've lost control and the bike has taken control of your braking for whatever time it deems necessary.

I know I'm taking more of a risk by wearing my half helmet 90% of the time but I just like the feel of it better. I usually only wear my full face in cold weather and long rides however I decided to not take it with me on the Run to the Hills ride and definitely had to pull over in the mountains when it started coming down because I just couldn't see. I do prefer modular though so I can hydrate and snack while riding and don't have to wait until I pull over.

Good morning 🌅, that was sound advice, practising makes perfect, at least helps, I was riding in the region of Lemoge in France last week, I’ve already passed comment on this, a couple riding a bagger, T-shirt and shorts , and obviously a helmet open face, female on back, Might as well not been wearing anything, in event of accident just called the buzzards in they will clean up the mess, Some people even past comment of what I’ve put down, it’s peoples rights to wear whatever they like, but it is the people that have to go along and clean up the mess afterwards and tell the families what has happened to them, Especially riding on motorway conditions 70/80 miles an hour, they didn’t appear to be hanging around, , I’m now in my 70s. I have just recently purchased a secondhand deuce., which by the way has not been knocked after very well, And I haven’t ridden a bike for about 6 to 7 years, My location means that I have to concentrate very hard on the road surfaces, just recently been resurfaced very slippery, extremely sharp bends, and very steep hills up and down, with adverse camber, I have to ride somewhere in the region of 6 to 7 miles before I get onto the main highway into a town or village, Even in a car or a van you cannot do no more than 35 to 40 miles an hour along these these pieces road, And likewise going round the bends you are lucky to be able to do anywhere between five and 10 miles an hour as they are so sharp, I’m hoping to do a long ride in a few weeks time, down into Spain which is about 500 miles, I’m slowly rebuilding my strength, The most I’ve done so far is 250 miles in one day, I suffered the next day, especially as I do not have a female to help massage my back anymore 😂, I have more chance of going to the moon than that ever happening, a good soak in the bath, 😂 , being aware of your countryside, and our other people use or abuse the road, Ride safe ride free, please wear your protective clothing, From France.

I just slid down the road a little bit of damage to my bike., though my poor female partner grazed her backside very badly, The best accident that I’ve ever been in , I was stationary in a junction in Barcelona in 2003, with a load of my friends and colleagues sitting on their bikes all alongside me a guy on a VR 750 Honda I believe, pull the wheelie on the other side of the road hit a pedestrian sorry two pedestrians, He obviously came off his bike. I believe he broke his ankle. , his bike was heading towards a coach by itself, all of a sudden the bike fell over on its side, and help towards me hitting my front wheel, and doing approximately 3 1/2 thousand pounds worth of damage to my bike, the bike literally flipped under me, My so-called X female partner, She was bruised, she was more interested in the paramedics and the police that were around, Giving her attention, she was laughing it up, and this is the main reason why she is now my ex, been loyal and faithful to somebody, and having that done in front of you, it is not nice, Regards from France.

@Old-n-slo-locked-n-leaned4 ай бұрын
Full face helmets DEFINITELY offer more protection; however, there’s a debate with some motor officer training schools whether they are actually “safer”. Truth is gear is your third priority level of safety. #1 is your riding approach , #2 is your skill in controlling your motorcycle, especially in emergency situations and #3 is protective gear. An easy way to remember this is the saying “Develop exceptional skills and ride in a manner where you will never have to use them.” As far as the debate on full face helmets, they DEFINITELY can negatively affect your situational awareness, i.e. field of vision, hearing, etc. Spend as much effort as possible developing the higher priority levels of safety vice having that false sense of security with gear that Que pointed out. I had a motor officer instructor tell me that if you ride like an idiot the full face helmets just keep your face pretty for your Momma to see when your in the coffin. He also pointed out that most Sport Bike riders have full face helmets……complimented with shorts/tennis shoes and t shirts, etc. His comment to that is wearing a full face helmet and crashing with shorts and tennis shoes would just make you wish you were dead. Now. These seem like outrageous comments but they make you think.

A few years ago I read somewhere that it only takes an impact to the head at 13 mph to be deadly (MSF or maybe in “Staying Safe” by Lawrence Grodsky). You could literally be at a complete stop, fall over to the side, hit your head on the curb and it could be fatal because the motion could reach 13mph. So, I wear a helmet anytime I’m riding.
