Nice to see you back Mike !!! I like the way you explain everything. I like Riding Shotgun & Sasnak for that very reason. I'm a lot less of a Nervous Nellie on icy roads with a big rig coming up behind me now because I understand more what you guys are thinking and doing when you come up behind me. Thanks !!!

Agree with you on 3M and Sasnak both great common sense drivers with an entertainment flair!!

@@billk7234 I used to work in the Colorado area that Mike drives and have kids & grandkids in the Grand Junction area. Know some of those roads very well and can't believe how much they've grown since the last time I was through there in 2015. Recently Sasnak has taken me through Texas and California via his route that I have never seen in the daylight but have traveled through when I moved west and on various trips back & forth since then. They would both make excellent tour guides !!! PS I make a piss poor shotgun rider, would've been booted out the passenger's door an hour into the trips !

Most people get stressed watching videos like this. I find it relaxing. I hauled a cargo trailer from prince George to Rosthern with my partner. In the middle of winter. Only a half ton. Prolly weighed about 4000 pounds in total. I never towed a trailer before. Went through jasper. And there was no gas stations or hardly any civilization in there. Got dark real fast. That was stressful. Being new to towing and using a truck I never drove. In a place I hadn't been. In absolutely awful weather. I made that trip 2 times with 2 loads of stuff. Both times the weather was awful. It made me more confident behind the wheel at the end of the second trip. I took my friend with me the second go round who also hadn't towed before. And I did most of the driving. Right at the end near North Battleford the weather turned exceptionally bad. The roads were pure ice. Couple times I felt the truck slide on the highway. That last leg of the journey was the hardest drive I've ever had to do in my life. But I'm glad I did it. Now I have the confidence to face the weather solo. I don't recommend everyone doing that. But it was a metaphorical kick in the pants to be a more assertive driver. So I enjoy watching you drive and chat. It's calming for me. Good job!

Thought the plow truck was going to plow you! I'm fascinated by drivers that can't see something as big as a semi but have somehow survived to adulthood. Miracles are real, lol.

Great video! Especially the spin out! Great respect for mother nature in a bad mood. For your fans in Europe, over 300 mi of the I-80 (called the Sno Chi Minh trail by locals) closed Wed and was supposed to be reopened late Thurs. Haven't heard anything about reopening yet. Closure due to blowing snow. UPDATE: I-80 was reopened from Evanston to Laramie, WY on Friday, per KGAB radio. It was a "rolling closure" so if one town was at capacity it would be closed at the previous town forward. I have only driven the SCM trail once headed east in UHaul's Big Boy (the JM model) towing my little Toyota p/u with my 7 yro son riding shotgun. It was late October but the only snow we had was at the top of the pass east of Laramie. No worries though, we'd had road security traveling with four semi truckers. Back in Lancaster, CA my flying buddies insisted on sending us off with a portable cb and antenna sticking out just above the driver's side window. It was before everyone had cell phones. Anyway, it was a fun trip. They taught me cb talk instead of "that pilot stuff" and made our relocation to Wyo unforgettable. But that's a story for another day. Hope Mother Nature stays in a better mood a little longer, but we usually experience one last temper tantrum between late April and mid-May. She's a capricious lady though and has been known to snow on the 4th of July! So please stay safe and alert while driving I-80. Between the wind and Wyo driving skills it's often hair-raising to say the least.

Really like riding along with you and the way you explain things. We are a little bit familiar with roads around Colorado. Loved your reference to bailing wire. Can remember my dad saying if you had bailing wire and a big leather belt, you could fix almost anything that went wrong with your vehicle. Course that vehicle was a Model A! Drive safe!

Hey everyone, here it is after lunch Saturday, finishing up my little vacation on the Eastern Slope, found this latest video from Mike and thought "Man i've got to go back west and LOOK AT THIS MESS, then i looked at the date he filmed it and thought well, that's like 2 months ago so i'm good. Always check the date folks. But still love RIDING SHOTGUN in the snow, rain, heat, sleet whatever. Dust in Arizona picking up alfalfa blizzards in Utah, picking up sawdust whatever. the scenery is still the best. Take care, you all and have a Blessed Easter. SEE YA

Good question. Could it mean the accelerator pedal is down?
@rapman53632 жыл бұрын
Back in the day when you were finished with your conversation on the CB but we’re still monitoring the channel you were “down”. That’s where the down from Eastbound and Down comes from. The song Eastbound and Down was written by Jerry Reed for the movie Smoky and the Bandit but the saying was common long before the movie was made. I hope that answers your question........I’m down.
@joycemcfee18292 жыл бұрын
@@rapman5363 Thank you, I'm down with that. We used to have a little booklet that came with our CB which explained some of the truckers' words, but that was a long time ago. During the CB craze, we drove to Colorado on vacation, and it kept us entertained on that long drive.

Not new to your channel (have enjoyed watching your treks thru the snow ) but this is my first comment. I was just curious if you use a wireless mic on these videos or just the mic on the camera you're using? Asking because your audio sounds better than what I've been getting making videos like this. Appreciate your channel. Thanks!

Hi Mike, can you either share the "what's up" w/ that pethedic sq. tubing D.O.T. bumper or suggest a "go to" for information??? W/ all parties from all 4 governments stressing safety, and then allow that decapitating trailor rearend, common on all models, to go as though unnoticed.. is unheard of. It's hardly a bumber, but serves what purpose?
