If you drive a Tk. Daily Backing should be no problem at all.. My in my younger years we back up to 400' + stright drop off & dump over every trip carrying 350+ tons of rock. Big rock would shake the whole dump. We was allways improving it.. I just waiting on Dave start answering himself all video long. If he talk like that on his driving shift? I see now why his old lady left him. She Couldn't sleep at all.

Lucky you for getting to one in the early A.M. Last time I had to go to 2 in same day . One was just at the lunch rush and the other was 20 mins before they closed. Always fun to have a lady stare at you from her SUV at the only entrance you can come in at to get a good approach to the ramp like she expected you to be the one to back up. After a good 45 second polite wait I had to start inching up to get the point across. Either go, back up, or get pushed out the way. She opted to back up.

That's why I'm glad I worked for a company that if you kept your nose clean and never got any tickets or late deliveries or refusals they took the governor completely out. My truck was completely ungoverned until I had to retire. It made passing so much easier as well as getting up hills easier too. And my fuel economy got better as well.

Back down an alley? How did you survive? Try adding trucks on both sides of your dock at end of alley
@raymondmarion90442 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave, I don't know if it's possible, but if you could stick your GoPro on the back of your trailer or on the dock & livestream while monitoring from the cab it'd be like having a backup cam and make this kind of docking (as well as blindsides) much safer & easier. Would have worked like a charm during your night docking when you were in the Freightshaker too. If streaming is not an option, putting a flashlight on left edge of the dock bumper at night (or when backing into a building) makes iffy backing situations much easier. Be safe & keep the rubber side down.

I work for U.S Xpress. We can go 68 on the cruise and 65 on the pedal, but for some reason, our passmart/reserve is set to 68. It's great for maintaining distance to pass quicker, but a lot of 65 guys will activate theirs and go 68 just long enough to stop you from passing them. Then when you drop behind them they go 65 again. It's infuriating. It doesn't seem like much but under normal circumstances it should only take a 68 guy 10-15 seconds to pass a 65 guy. Not when they speed up to it doesn't. I think that they think we can only go 65 as well, and we're going to get in there way. Happened to me a lot at when I was with Schneider. But not letting people pass is becoming a real issue lately. If I have someone next to me I make sure to either slow down or maintain my speed. I don't get what the "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" thing is. Please CFI drivers don't be that guy.

Quick question, the camera or video device you have mounted on your head, where can I get one of them, I dont want the entire gopro set. Wow, I think "Riding with Dave" is my new favorite videos to watch. It's good teaching on how to land a truck at centers. I don't have a CDL yet. Still deciding on how to do it.
@eagle253112 жыл бұрын
It's really simple at least in my state. You can go to the community college or you can just go to a private cdl school like Phoenix trucking driving school or whatever the company you work for will recognize. Then sign up complete the course and pass the state test, then go to mvd and pass their multiple choice test and the CDL is yours. A lot of companies including CFI will reimburse you the tuition fee for your school if you agree and sign a contract to work with them for a year.

@ridingwithjay I am not sure if deleted your questions or if they are being hidden from me... Any who, "PissBottleAlex" used to drive for CFI his videos were random videos of him doing pointless nonsense with an unrelated voice over. I saw a KZbinr who did a video stating that the inevitable happened (he got fired for interacting with the camera while operating commercial vehicle. Those examples are not related as far as I know. All I know is - corporate trucking companies have a limited sense of humor about these things.

I'm way excited it's been much easier passing trucks with it. I'm also excited about it! You can activate it with cruise on or off. I just leave the cruise on and then when I let up it drops back to 65 and maintains 2

It’s crazy cause I was actually thinking about that “smart pass” recently also. It can apply to any governed truck to temporarily increase the governer or remove it altogether to pass a truck that’s going a mph slower than you. I’m governed @ 68, and it’s a hassle trying to pass someone going 67, so if we had that “smart pass,” it could bring me up to 70mph, just enough to pass them. That’s smart of CFI to do so you guys don’t stay stuck behind someone going 64mph.
