As a trauma survivor I resonate with both sides of this song. I've exhibited both sides of the trauma responses. I lived the first part if my life enmeshed, trying to be saved or trying to save. It never works. It was only after I came to my story and able to name the depth of the harm done to me, that I began to feel that change was possible. That is when redemption came and found me. Hurt people hurt people. Shamed people shame people. Kindness is the only cure for pain that deep.
