As a disabled veteran who watched my father abuse my mother, brothers, and sisters, I agree that this guy is hysterical! Nothing short of awe and talent for his ability to see suffering, humiliation, and make something as trivial as domestic abuse ABSOLUTELY FUNNY. Put him on the pedestal of manhood Jordan Peterson says! Even my father was laughing as he kicked my mom's face in with his weathered farm boots. My mom was laughing through all the blood from her missing teeth. It was the best Xmas ever, now that I think about it and the police said it was one of the most terrible cases they ever saw HAHAHAHAHAHA! So funny! Anyway, anyone who disagrees that domestic abuse isn't pure comedy gold is a cuck simp beta feminist.

Well, comics are generally pretty smart and think about all kinds of things, and because humor can often be offensive, because you're making fun of something, often normal human behaviour or odd things or society in general, and live in that, you tend to think more or differently about some things. They both think a lot about people, emotions, humanity, life, etc. And people not understanding what he says is a joke are just, well, morons. He touches a bit on it when he's talking about timing too, there are places and times you can say horrible things and they're just funny, but often you have to be quick with it, if you take 30 seconds to think of something and then say it instead of within a second, it'll come over waaaaay different. But still, he's doing a show, it's a joke. As soon as you think something is too bad or ridiculous to be true, it probably is, apparently some people are missing that insight.

Not only is Matt hilarious, he comes across as so genuine and unapologetically real!! He NEVER EVER comes across as an a-hole. Although his jokes and banter with the audience is oftentimes what an a-hole would say, someone who is being an a-hole doesn't receive standing ovations!! He is human. He is a man. He is real and NEVER seems disingenuous. What a refreshing concept in the "Karen" world that we live in these days!! I watch him for a number of reasons, the same reasons that, ( I am certain), the majority of his female fan base watch him. First and foremost, as humans, we prefer to enjoy beautiful things!! Maybe it sounds shallow, but it is true and "Matt" is definitely beautiful!! I remember when I first saw Ashton Kutcher and I thought,"how gorgeous!". My very next thought was, "wait.... he is funny too?! How refreshing!"! Gorgeous people, more often than not, come across as so unrelatable; not Matt Rife!! When I first noticed him, my initial reaction was lust, (my gosh, he is absolutely "Brad Pitt", gorgeous!), but before I knew it I was laughing my a** off!! It is a guarantee that when I watch him, I am going to laugh, (usually until I hurt)! I know that I am going to feel much better after "CHOOSING" to watch him, than I did before!! What more can I ask for from my entertainment "CHOICES"? Also, enjoying him is absolutely just that..... a choice!! I choose to enjoy him. If you find him offensive, choose not to watch!! I suggest that you take your progressive ass to the view and implode with the show!! Keep it up Matt!! You are awesome on so many levels!!

To start, I’m a Sikh, Indian, and my culture is important to me. Thought the past two years I’ve fallen in love with the comedy Matt Rife tells, it’s quick, witty and genuine, he’s not scripted, he’s a true talent. I hope you get to read this. I saw a comedy skit online that he did where he bounced jokes off a Sikh man making terrorists jokes. It was tough to hear at first cause my people have been attacked being called that before. For a moment I was mad with Rife, but then I remembered it’s a joke, he’s a comedian. While the joke is insensitive it was still just a harmless joke and seeing the fellow Indian man who was in the video happy made me happy. I then mentally set myself as if I wasn’t a Sikh and didn’t know the tension of what terrorism is to the Sikh community then I found the joke decent, not his best work but not hurtful to my being. People need to learn to separate their true selves when experiencing comedy. Sorry for a long comment wanted to share how I almost got offended but took the philosophy of not taking comedy at true value to myself as who I am
@meghanparris8203 Жыл бұрын
You have to know yourself and, I think, be ok with who you are to be able to separate who you are from something someone said, without taking it personally. And lemme say this now before I get ahead of myself, I wholeheartedly agree with you, I think it's one of the main reasons why people these days do get so upset over every little thing, is because they have no real values and they don't really stand for one thing or another- literal fence-sitters. So they don't have the ability to separate themselves, they get personally hurt- like, it's being said only to them. You are obviously intelligent enough to see and do this yourself, but sadly most people aren't.

I think you touched on something important which is taking a step back from indignation about your identity. Whether your identity is black, white, female, trans, Sikh, etc, especially as it relates to the field of comedy, obsession about your identity is something that will only hinder the experience of going for the "ride" that is listening to someone else's joke.
@mattChisholm-vt3dl Жыл бұрын
This is a great response. Comedy is a show. An act. And to be offended is just a selfish and egotistical. Unless he targets you specificly sure you can feel how you want but be a realistic man or woman and be bigger than that. Who care how you feel because if it's making people laugh you're spreading a good feeling to a crowd to be honest I don't like being targeted about anything that would bring up a negative emotion but it's a show it's meant to be controversial or something that you wouldn't take politely from someone on the street because it's not real it's just like TV it goes to extreme sometimes because we all have intrusive thoughts that we wouldn't act on but when someone can actually turn any scenario especially something negative into laughter then he's doing the job that you paid to go see it has to be expected especially in comedy it's great that you understand this laughter is the second most treasured emotion that you can share with others . And to push past any personal issue that might feel offensive to you is worth it as long as it's making people laugh only the truth matters assumptions are made by the comedian in his joke it's never personal it's for everyone. Right on man it's good to see that someone can actually take a joke

This feels like therapy for people that treat comedy and jokes as a coping mechanism. Noticed it when I started losing people in rapid succession, when shit hits the fan I make jokes and many times they are dark af, self degrading and random. Feels good to realize that’s not entirely a problem and there’s many others like that. Also Matt Rife is an amazing debater as I can see
@austenlangford Жыл бұрын
It's funny when you think about it. Certain people will have life issues and use it as a way to put others down by saying they can't talk about it Like that. But the people who makes jokes many of times have dealt with the same experiences and are trying to not be a victim and control the emotion. Yet they are told their way of life is incorrect and those kinds of people shouldn't even exist. How is walking on egg shells and being a complete tool of a person the better way of dealing with it?
@ellencox8415 Жыл бұрын
No. You are a gem. You lost people who are too enveloped in themselves. Dark times are when comedy shines the brightest. I was the same person for my family. Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and while everyone visited him and would spend the whole time crying and sad (Don't get it twisted, I was equally depressed and hysterical... just in the shower), I made it my job to come in with a new joke and try and put a smile on his face. This was YEARS ago and my family who would make comments like, "Is this really the time?" have come back later and said the only good memories they have of that time was when my dad would light up to hear my stupid cringe joke I had brought to him.

My mother died in January of 2020. My younger brother and I had always been very close, hanging out, living together at times (as adults). Our childhood was a teeny bit messed up. Bit I digress. So, mom is in the hospital, we know this is the last time, so I decide to spend the night with her. It was sad and actually a little fun. We got to chat and bring up old jokes. We talked about the kids. I'm really grateful I spent that night with her. Next day my bro and SIL come to the hospital, visit for a few hours, then the three of us say goodbye to my mama, and we head to their house so I can eat, shower, etc. On the way home, my brother decides we need some musical therapy, which we all agree with He picks his song, we cry a little. Then he says, "Hey Manda, pick a song.", which my SIL (JOKINGLY) responds with, "Uh what about my turn?!" Because normally, he would have asked her first. I'm still cringing a bit about what I said. "Gosh, Rena, YOUR mom isn't dying!" She immediately apologized for saying it which of course caused me to apologize because I was also only joking. My bro realized it, because I would have never seriously said something like that to anyone, much less her (she's such a sweet person)! But, my mama wasn't truly near death before either, so I suppose she wasn't 100% sure. We did all have a laugh about it but it wasn't until I was sharing it later with our older brother and his wife and they didn't see the humor that I realized, wow, lil bro and I may have more serious issues than I realized! I didn't mean to write a novel, your comment just kinda hit home. It is nice to know we aren't the only messed up ones out here!

@@amandabriscoe6578 I shall reply to your story with another one. I had two of my friends commit suicide in the same week earlier this year. I told a lot of jokes during that time and my favorite was actually one my friend told. I was out drinking at the end of the week and I told her and one of the first thing she says is “they may not know each other but they both know you, maybe you were the problem”. I just loved this. Not just simply the verbal exchange but their body language in certain topics. Hand gestures, movement in chair, just the pure energy in the conversation; both from Matt and Jordan. It was just a sincere conversation. Jordan making little foot movements when making a point and Matt in return getting into a relaxed mindset to take in that information. Its rare to see this type of interaction.
