There’s a monster in Wisconsin, and it’s going to slowly, VERY slowly, strike TERROR INTO YOUR HEART! Sure, your grandma could outrun it, but TERROR is more fun! When a fiery meteor lands in the woods, strange things begin to happen in this small Wisconsin town - even weirder than usual, and that’s a pretty high bar!
While the townspeople are picked off by spiders of varying sizes, two esteemed scientists ramble around the countryside in a late model sedan, where they find friendship, romance and a big mechanical spider built on a Volkswagen Beetle chassis! Fortunately, the local sheriff refuses to leave his office unless tempted by a big plate of prunes.

I was (unhappily) living in Wisconsin when this movie was released. I saw it at a drive-in in, I think, Janesville. I was very young, but even then I was thunderstruck by the rank incompetence on display.

This was my last in-theater Live. I moved away from my Fathom-friendly theater 5 years ago. But earlier this week or last week I find out my theater in walking distance is closing sometime next year. It might bring me back to my Fathom-friendly theater and bear the cost of an extra ticket or two to get there.

Can't believe they didn't have more Perry Mason/Paul Drake jokes. Fun fact: Barbara Hale is William Katts mother. He played The Greatest American Hero TV series and would play Paul Drakes son in the later Perry Mason movies. Side Note II: Robert Easton (red longjohns guy) was a leading dialogue and accent coach in Hollywood.

Okay, this is a vidid memory and the reason I can’t listen to bare naked ladies’ One Week. I was a kid maybe 5-6, and I loved MST3k and my dad and my brothers put the episode where they watch this one on. I absolutely freaked out and had to go straight to bed once the super shitty fake spiders came on screen. With every light on I hid in my room but the silence was too much so I played the one cd in my cd player and it happened to be bared naked ladies. I don’t know if it’s like conditioning my fear with the song or if it’s a combo of the way he says, “ITS BEEN-“ but every time I hear that song my heart drops and I’m in pure panic.

I appreciate this being posted, but I’m not a huge fan of RiffTrax redoing MST3K episodes because they tend to ignore the obvious riffs in favor of the new ones. Mary Jo and Bridget doing Angels Revenge is the exception because the ladies didn’t riff it before and it was the extended version not seen in the show. Just my two cents. Please don’t hurt me

Wellllllll, there are live, real tarantulas in the film, it-must-be-said. But even by tarantula-standards, they seem sluggish, almost in a medicated stupor. It's a Rebane 1975 movie, so that could have the case! 😂
