I've been planning on doing this with a color guard rifle that one of my nephews left at their house when they sold it a few years ago. Hadn't gotten around to looking closely enough at it to decide how I wanted to convert it into a guitar, though. It's just sort of sitting in a corner waiting to be worked on with lots of other collected and unused guitar ideas. Some day.... =)

Hondo made a guitar in the shape of an assault rifle back in the 80s. Look up the Hondo M-16. Still, this is an awesome build. Can't wait to see the final product.

Ultra cool Shane! Well done. If you did a headstock recess like a standard Cbg neck and painted it white you’d still have the outline of the muzzle. Might be more aesthetically pleasing, but would look a bit strange from playing position. I guess it’d also be a LOT easier to string up.

Cool build Shane! Would you be able to route out a hole in end to hold a metal slide ( look like barrel end ) also pick holder to look like iron sight

Shane my daughter who is currently in Color Guard said and I quote. He bought the cheap rifle if he wants a good rifle he needs the DSI Rifle. That’s what we use! lol Out of the mouths of babes! lol
