I’ve been working on this song for several months. As I’ve mentioned in other videos, Derrick Plourde’s drumming is a big part of my life and deeply meaningful to me. After posting a previous song of Derrick’s I received some really touching messages from some really special people who were very close to Derrick. I was hoping that I could show how grateful I am for their kindness and generosity by giving them my cover of ‘Rifle’ which is very special song to so many people.
In an interview @markodesantis said, “if you ever want to hang out with Derrick, just listen to the first 3 Lagwagon albums, or Bad Astronaut.” I feel lucky that not only do I get to hang out with Derrick every day but I also get to play drums with him and learn from him.
I hope that everyone who has lost someone special can cherish their memories in a meaningful way this holiday season.
