I have both the Sauer 101 and the Mauser M12, both in 338 Win Mag. They are great shooting rifles..world class! Also to note - the magazines are interchangeable between the two rifles!

Hey Ken, Yeh they are great rifles for sure with a very noticeable similarity between the two! Nice calibre choice you went with. Cheers, Nik.

Hey! Very nice channel! I am about to buy a new rifle, and am curious about your opinion. Based on your experience: is a Sauer 101 more accurate than Mauser M12? Thanks a lot! Eddie

Hi Eddie, Glad you like the channel mate! That is a tough one, they are both accurate rifles and are easily capable of sub MOA at 100m. I would base my choice on how it handles and feels to shoot and carry and for that reason I would choose the M12. So, more of a personal choice than which one is better or more accurate than the other. Hope that helps! Cheers and good luck with your purchase. Nik/NZG&H

HI ! Please, I didn´t understand what happen with the bolt, when it got out in your hands. It can´t get out the receiver . Can you explain, waht happen ? Thanks
@nikmaxwell11 жыл бұрын
Hi Rafael, Bolt action rifles are, by default, designed to be able to remove the bolt from the receiver. Cheers, Nik.

newzealand gunsandhunting OK, sorry. But why the bolt got out, you don´t push anything in the receiver to do this. Imagine if you in the hunting, and the boar charge you, and the bolt goes out in your hand, when you handle the bolt. The "bolt stop" have to function, and the bolt have to stop, in the receiver. I think that isn´t normal. Thanks!

Hi Rafael, The bolt has a release button so that when you do choose to, you can easily remove the bolt, generally for cleaning the barrel and receiver or storage etc. In this video I was just demonstrating how this done. The bolt would 'never' come out on its own. It is a very secure design. Cheers, Nik.

I was thinking about buying this gun ... German precision and all that ... you were nowhere near the bolt release and yet the bolt came out - probably because you had the gun at a gangster angle ... that makes this a BS gun ... maybe to 404 is the one to get.

Hi Grazielle, I preferred the M 12, it is a little more refined and I found the stock to be a better fit for me. Again they are both great rifles and reasonably priced. Also, I am pretty biased when it comes to the Mauser brand! Cheers, Nik.

Great vid mate which do u prefer the r8 or the 101?
@nikmaxwell11 жыл бұрын
Cheers guys! Both great rifles, there is about a $2000NZ difference between the two, the R8 is around $4500NZ. However, out of those two I did prefer the R8. What I really liked about the R8 was how the one piece magazine and trigger assembly sit directly beneath the receiver. This gives the R8 a very short overall length and as a predominant bush hunter was great to carry through scrub etc.
