Very close attention to detail. Incredible how similar the takedown is to the real thing. It was advisable to turn down the magazine well when unscrewing the barrel shroud. That might be the difficulty. Can you believe Canada's government is trying to ban all airsoft guns? They are in the process of banning anything that replicates a real firearm. It is causing quite a storm over here. I want to get an airsoft version of the Sterling SMG and an FN SLR (Similar to the Canadian C1A1) for the two mounts in the M38A1. Great presentation on a great Sten Mk.V airsoft version.

To remove the barrel nut you need to disengage the magazine housing locking plunger, it is dual action and also engages with ratchet teeth on the barrel nut to lock it in place. I received my Mk2 late version a couple of weeks ago, compared to the deactivated Mk2 I used to own I cannot praise Northeast highly enough for the job they have done.

great video, on a deac however the barrel nut on most uk spec deacs will be welded to the gun as part of the deactivation method to make it not removeable in order to deny access to replacing the barrel with a live fire version, however the method you show regarding removing the front sight is the only way to get a foregrip on most uk spec deacs.

The reason the barrel shroud didn't come off was user error. The same lever that you pull to rotate the magwell down is the same lever that locks the barrel shroud in place. When the magwell clicks into position you see that it also engages a ratchet around the barrel nut. Simply pull the lever, rotate the magwell down a few degrees and the barrel nut can turn freely.
@RiflemanMoore Жыл бұрын
No, though I do wish it was as simple as that, when I first attempted to remove the barrel nut I had the magazine well rotated downwards. The barrel nut is still locked solid and won't shift on this particular example. Perhaps someone was a bit over-keen in the factory.

Hmmm... The rivets on the FCG ears are wrong, the endcap is internally wrong as well, but that's not something visible during display so it doesn't really matter much. I've never in my life seen a wartime Sten with a blued bolt, either... but that's about the only immediately apparent problems with it, and they're fairly minor. I doubt the original foregrips used a hex key, since all other British firearms of the time period used flathead screws, but I've also never owned an original foregrip since they seem to mostly have been destroyed or discarded in the field, so it's possible.
@simonsignolet56324 ай бұрын
Sergei, the Fire Control Group cover (Trigger Mechanism Cover) is actually CORRECT for a MkV. The Mk2 uses a screw on each side but the MkV had a hole with no thread for a weird angular type spring pin which passes all the way through the TMC. On most genuine MkVs, these spring pins are long since lost - frankly, they were junk and near impossible to refit once removed. I'm guilty of having thrown one away after struggling to keep one in place after what was called "illegal stripping" (in the military - illegal for personnel who WEREN'T armourers) (but NOT illegal in Civvie Street gun clubs, back in the day). The earlier NE Stens had steel bolts. The aluminium bolt on my NE MkVI looks near enough correct when compared to a WWII MkV deac. Might this simply be a lighting issue in this video? The return spring housing is actually exactly the same as the real thing but for the plastic buffer insert that extends from it, as you've pointed out. This is necessary for reducing wear/damage of the airsoft blow-back gun as it cycles: the bolt is lighter as it the spring. I agree with you on the foregrip bolt. Because the rear pistol grip uses a slotted roundhead bolt rather than hex panhead one, I'd be surprised if a genuine foregrip would be anything but the same. The only real let-down is the wood on these NE MkVs: the finger grooves are too pronounced and the colour ought to be lighter and more reddish.

A shame about the filling valve location. I have several gas airsoft replicas and most of them have their fill valves right below the knocker valve as to not make it visible when the magazine is loaded in the gun (as well as keeping it free from debris and dirt). Kind of lazy tbh. and a strange decision considering the rest of the replica is of such high quality. There might be third party magazines available at some point that fixes this.
@baroque4daysanti-gasequipm2253 жыл бұрын
You could probably pop a grey sticker over it for the sake of re-enactment. If not, any chance the real steel fits?
@simonsignolet56324 ай бұрын
An easy fix is simply to slide off the mag bottom plate, put in a piece of grey card, plastic or sheet metal then replace the bottom plate. The real magazines have the same hole in the bottom plate with the bottom plate retainer at the base of the magazine spring marrying up to it.

@geodkyt3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be shocked if the tube dimensions of the receiver aren't close enough to a live gun that (under US law, as interpreted by ATF) they would be considered "machineguns" because the reciver is the right dimensions (or "close enough", in ATF's opinion) and the National Firearms Act includes "receiver of a machinegun" as being a "machinegun" in its own right, along with anything that could be "readily restored" to a machinegun (which ATF has interrepted to mean, "If our experts can *convert* it to function as a live machinegun in under a day"). Which is a shame - it really looks like it might be worth buying, just for the wood furniture (literally every other part to build a legal dummy gun or legal semiautomatic version is being reproduced in high quality in the US). Imean, I even have a full set of semiauto parts for everything *but the wood* (even a newly.produced barrel), and it would only cost $200 to register it as a legal "Short Barrelled Rifle" rather than build it as a pistol that can't accept an unmodified stock tang or with a silly looking 16" barrel.

They took an approach I had suggested in the earlier group and had rejected by the project lead (not that I have any reason to believe the guys who succeeded had any inkling of our work - I think they independently just came to the same logical conclusion I did and were willing to run it past ATF.) They also took some approaches we didn't think of that were quite brilliant and simple (albeit I'm sure a production nightmare) and that I believe had a significant impact on ATF determining in their favor.

@@aholycrusader2681 You should educate yourself a little more. While it is true that some major cities in the UK have a problem with knife crime the incident in question with the murder of primary school children happened in Dunblane in Scotland, a small town very much not on the radar when it came to violent crime. Also true a gun is not required to cause violence. However is certainly helps the offender, I'm quite certain that there aren't many semi automatic or full automatic knives out there with a 300 metre effective range. The refrain of "Guns don't kill people, people do" is one of the most brain dead statements ever dreamt up.

@@TarnishUK Guns don't kill people. people kill people. FACT! Do you blame the vehicle or the drunk driver? Ban vehicles. Ban alcohol. Do you blame the fork for making people fat? Ban forks. Knives, rope, candlestick, wrench, lead pipe? More people are murdered by the use of hands and feet than by any other weapon. There is no reason to ban firearms from Government and police vetted licensed firearms owners. It is against the law to attempt to murder, or murder someone. Period. If you want, I can give real numbers and stats. In Canada for example, we have about 38 million people. As of the most recent statistics available on homicides in Canada. 2015 is the latest release. Out of all the 135 people who died from a firearm related homicide. Less than half a percent were caused by a licensed firearms owner. All the others were due to crime. Criminals and gangs Make all the laws you want, criminals don't care. The last 50 years in North America has seen a steady downward number of homicides by firearms. You are basing your argument on feelings and perceptions, not on reality, statistics and facts. You need to get educated! I guarantee you do not own a firearm, nor have you been instructed in the safe use of a firearm, and have probably never even held or shot a real firearm. BTW, who has a fully automatic firearm? Mathew de Grood stabbed and killed five young people at a house party in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 2014. Five dead from a knife. Maximum rounds permitted in a semi automatic firearm in Canada is five. Did the knife kill those five. Yes knives kill people, people don't kill people. 2018 in Toronto, a man kills 10 people and seriously injures 16 others with a speeding van driving on the sidewalk. Ban Vans! People don't kill people. Right.

It's just firearms pistols that we can't legally own. And live grenades. And depleted uranium ammunition. Etcetera... Gun crime has actually INCREASED in the UK since the post-Dunblane firearms restrictions. Food for thought, both pro and anti.
