As an aside my one have issues taking either my spike bayonet or my no9. I found it’s the thickness of the paint and with a little bit of percussive adjustment (tapped with a hammer) they both now fit fine!

Nice looking airsoft sten. Would you age it ?. Maybe rub it down with a bit of emery tape?. Good review maybe a bit of judicious filing might get the bayonet to fit.🙂🙂

From what Iv heard the after ww2 a lot of mk5 barrel shrouds were changed for Mk2 shrouds with three holes, this was due to the front grip being done away with.

I believe that the deactivated Sten has a MkII barrel nut. They're *mechanically* interchangeable, but they figured that since the foregrip bracket would cover up the center row of holes they could omit drilling those holes (a skipped step here, a skipped step there, and eventually you have a real production savings in time and money). It's not like those covered up holes provide any cooling ventilation, after all. You do see live, original guns in documented "as issued" condition that had their MkV barrel nuts replaced with MkII nuts, usually postwar. I mean, why not? They fit and function just fine.

Great clip and subject, terrific for both Sten Mk 5's. I also liked the comparison ref the two Bayonet's, don't they both look great when mounted, the No 4. Spike Bayonet and the No. 9 'blade' (my terminology) Bayonet. A shame the Airsoft doesn't take both but it's a great credit to them that they take the No. 4 Spike at least up front. Still, that No. 9 'blade' Bayonet looks very 'bad ass' or 'beastly' when attached to the real Sten Mk V, you wouldn't want to mess with someone with that Bayonet attached! It looks very much at home on a Sten Mk 5 with it's mounted front pistol grip. Kind regards from Australia.

mine doesn't take a no4 bajonet though. lugs are slightly too large. Don't have a no9 to test

Only trouble with repro stens is the fact they usually look better made than the originals.! 🤔🙂 (the ne airsoft ones are very nice guns btw)

The MK6 is the silenced version of the MK5 with the food furniture. There is a Sten MK2 S which has a MK2 stock but a suppressor.

As I remember I did try that and there was a very slight discrepancy which meant the airsoft would fit on the deact but not vice versa.

US gun laws might prohibit the importation of the full Sten (as we govern the *receiver*, not the pressure bearing parts, and anything "too close" to the receiver of a machinegun in the opinion of the ATF is legally classified as a machinegun in its own right), but I have to see if I can get ahold of some of that *furniture*. Honestly, it's the furniture of the MkV that is hard to come by here in the States... and that furniture looks more "WWII appropriate" than the 70 year old furniture in my parts kits as well, as the guns carried in 1944 and 1945 hadn't gone through 70 years of hard service (most of it in Pakistan for the parts sets that are available Stateside).

Does the bayonet fit on the new air soft version ? I bet the original mag won’t fit on the copy ha ha ok you already answered that lol use a Dremel to fix the lugs I had to do the same to a couple of Indian No5 bayonet copies

I bet the bayonet is very expensive for the Sten mk5 ? I collect Lee Enfield No 5 Jungle Carbines I have 3 and only one Bayonet for them as they are more expensive than buying a rifle by itself

They use the standard No4Mk1 rifle spike bayonet, so they're rather inexpensive compared to a sword or knife bayonet or a bayonet that wasn't built by the millions.
