An Extremely awesome studio and live top notch quality processing and modelling unit. There's tons of amps, effects and everything else you would need inside one unit. Instead of having a massive flight case rig with two heads, pedalboards, tons of rack gear, you have it all in one unit. Live, i'm not sure on details but you can plug it direct into a PA.

Hey guys - we apologize for the video quality. Things can get hectic before shows and with four bands soundchecking for an early show time, this one was no exception. They were doing a light check (the clear parts you see are when the stage lights are on) and the camera struggled to cope with the intermittent darkness. Again, we do our best to bring you the highest quality videos possible, but as anyone who has gigged can attest, things don't always go as planned!

@shredder961 I don't think it's a filter. It looks, to me, like a lighting issue. You can see what I mean at 3:15 in the video when the lighting changes.

@MrForhelvede I already know that. They have been running the AXEFX ULTRA direct to the board for the last year. I own an AXEFX2 so I wanted to know what amp model they were using inside the AXEFX.

They use Axe-FX II's.. They don't have amps, cabinets or pedalboards. He said that they go direct into the PA's, he talked about his switcher board and showed his guitars, so I think he covered it all?

Did anyone answer you about the fractals? If not it's kinda the same Idea as a line 6 POD it's an Amp and Effect Model. Fractal is the company the actual unit is called the Axe FX. They are very good units and very expensive :) Hope that helps.

Dont forget, you can run the Fractal into a tube poweramp to warm up the tone.

My live rig consists of both an Axefx and an Engl Invader. I use the Engls power amp to sound my Axe. Not a fan of running direct. The Axe sounds good for leads and crazy effects. But I will ALWAYS use the Engl for main rhythm tones. It just has more dimension and complexity when it's cranked compared to the Axe. Just my opinion and experience.

Fractal is a brand that makes the "Axe-fx" which is exactly what they are using and talking about. It's a digital guitar pre-amp. It's pretty high dollar, but literally can sound like any amp out there. Many bands record with them these days. They are not cheap like Line 6.

Right, but the point of a rig rundown is to show what the guitarist uses, and Corey doesn't use amps, cabs, or pedalboards. The Axe-Fx II is AMAZING...you should try it and you would then understand why he spent so long raving about it.

I traded a VH4 for an AxeFX Ultra. The AxeFX is unquestionably an incredible piece of kit but for me personally, I found it a bit clinical & uninspiring, even though it could do so much so well. I traded her in & am much happier with a tube rig & stomp FX again. There are definite financial, studio & transportation benefits with the AxeFX. A yamaha electric piano will never sound & play 'better' than a real steinway grand piano. It's the same principal to me.

I gotta say Triviums tone overall isnt great, even the bassist sound too thin live but there are guys who use axefx and sound good, if you're not into luggung amps around then its a good alternative but dont expect a Marshall patch to sound like a Marshall.
