Never picked up on this channel before. Glad I found it, some great stuff on here. Everyone seems to like the evertune bridges these days. I see nothing wrong with it. Like he said he's not putting it on a '59 sunburst Les Paul. Whatever works for you.
@taylorc3159 жыл бұрын
Another thing to look at as far keeping the Les Paul headstock type of guitars in tune is to look at the nut, the way the D & G strings come off the nut creates a sharp angle and can get bound in the nut itself. if you angle the slots on the nut for the D&G stings it helps the strings glide through the nut when tuning. Just a thought. :)

I love that he keeps saying “not chambered” but then installs Evertune’s on them which effectively cuts giant chunks of mahogany out of the body, effectively… chambering.

5:07 He’s so right! I laugh when some people have 50 guitars, 15 amps, 100 pedals but can’t write anything good. I remember my friend told me about his cousin was in bands and how great of a musician he is and his brother and was working at guitar center and to see him when I go so he gets the commission. So I go one day to get a few things and I introduce myself to him, I ask him for something for my les Paul and when I told him it was an epiphone he said oh those are junk they don’t stay in tune and I was starting to tell him it’s an older one that sounds better then any guitar I’ve ever played even the studio I use couldn’t believe it sounded better then all these vintage expensive guitars but he doesn’t listen he cuts me off saying you need to have all hand built American stuff if ur ever gonna be in a serious band, he starts telling me about all the gear he and his brother has. So I just let him talk and end the conversation and leave. Then I check out his music and it’s terrible absolutely terrible great musicians him and his brother but they can’t write music. I only have a few guitars and few amps I got the sounds I wanted and that’s all I need and I did alot with that I got on the radio, played with bigger bands and that’s from being a good songwriter and those kids probably have 40k in equipment, can play any song you ask them too but they can’t even get their band to play at the popular venue in town you NEED to play if ur ever gonna really do anything because they can’t write they think having expensive equipment and technical abilities will get them to rockstar status they couldn’t get into the scene venue where kids went every night during the week to check out the local scene bands but they had all the answers about how to be successful in a band, people like this forget that the number one thing is you need fans, fans=success! At the end of the day that is the skeleton key to a music career in a successful band.

I could tell they used Gibsons the first time I heard them on the radio. Tim may not think that the guitar matters, but if you want a tone that stands out, you’re not going to get it with a Squier. why do they mean by saying that the evertune bridge polarizes the guitar?
@KompletterGeist9 жыл бұрын
+Ulizez Valenzuela u got it wrong. installing an evertune on a gibson is polarizing because there are people who's desire it is to get as close to the original 59 LP specs and the other half of players want a guitar that makes playing and tuning easier and just dont give a fuck about vintage specs. So if a player sees a LesPaul with an evertune, he's either gonna love it or hate it
@PaladinJenkis10 жыл бұрын
Well I am not the SG guy and therefore I don't care much about fitting them with an evertune bridge... seeing the les pauls get ruined, that is a whole different storry though! I've never had tuning issues with my les paul, once I tend to break the high E string quite frequently but since I do a wrap around over the stoptail like Bonamassa, never happened again to me!

These guys definitely aren't too anal about scratching their instruments. In one of the concert videos it starts raining and he's holding that black classic over his head like an umbrella. He's right about "not being a guitar person". I'd do that too if I was as big as them. $2500-$4000 is probably pocket money to them. Obviously thats not my case, so I wouldn't dream of evertuning my Gibsons either. I'm one of those people polarized by the concept.

How can Tim say that what guitar you play doesn't matter when - before saying that - he was bitching about SGs not staying in tune and how he had to search a lot for the right acoustic guitar? Of course it matters which guitar you have, he proves that himself. Saying it's just a tool is like saying you can use a saw to hammer nails in or a hammer to saw.
@Silverjerk9 жыл бұрын
Kasper TK I think you may have missed the takeaway; for instance, I don't feel like the type of guitar you play matters either, but that doesn't mean I don't prefer to play my PRS's when playing in Standard, dropped D, and a half step down; and my Schecter C1's when playing in C, A, or B. It doesn't matter, but that doesn't mean you can't have a preference.
@KTK449 жыл бұрын
Silverjerk Then clearly it matters to you. If it didn't matter, you wouldn't take that into consideration.
@Silverjerk9 жыл бұрын
Bro, you're still totally missing the point. Let's put this another way: If you're a championship race car driver the chances are you know how to drive a car -- the car doesn't matter. It's the technique, the skill, the talent that makes you a winner. Maybe you prefer to drive McLarens, maybe Ferraris, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter. That's the point he's making, and I can't make it any simpler than that.
@KTK449 жыл бұрын
I get what your saying, but if that's the point he is trying to make, then he is contradicting himself later on. I can't make it any simpler than that.
@Silverjerk9 жыл бұрын
If you got the point I was making you wouldn't see it as a contradiction.

also dont forget that rise against are a pretty energetic punk/rock band and I'm guessing they hit the strings pretty hard for a full 90mins, if your laying into the strings like that on the sgs/les pauls they would probably go out of tune alot imho.

I love this band, but when Zack said that only an unchambered Les Paul is a real Les Paul, something just fell apart inside of me. Yes, an unchambered Les Paul is a real Les Paul, but so is the current LP's Gibson release. Every single LP Gibson has made is a real LP. I wouldn't mind if he said it was a classic/traditional LP, but to say all other LP's aren't real, is just wrong.
@ad11709 жыл бұрын
Its just an opinion that many people share, you can 't really say they are wrong the whole point of the les Paul design was to be solid.
@AndyLarson9 жыл бұрын
I can, actually. If they think a solid LP is a real LP, that's fine. But they can't say that other LP's aren't real just because they are different. They are all made by the same company, who calles them all 'Les Paul'. If he'd said: "I think only solid LP's are real LP's" that's cool. That's his opinion. But he can't say: "Only solid LP's are real LP's". It's actually a huge difference.
@jeremyrafuse53304 жыл бұрын
@@AndyLarson nah you're wrong 😂😂 Les Pauls are SOLID wood. Not chambered, not weight relieved. That's how they started out, that's how they should be to this day. It's a cop out.
