The Riga Zoo is the largest in the Baltics states and is located next to Mezaparks - a large green area with wonderful clean air from Kisezers Lake. The zoo was opened to the public in 1912. More than 3 thousand representatives of the fauna of the whole world live on more than 20 hectares - including lions, giraffes, ostriches, alpacas, tapirs, anteater, as well as monkeys and lemurs. There is also a tropical home and a good collection of amphibians, including exotic toads and frogs.
