I remember having the race car shows at the shopping malls especially in the late 70's and 80's when you had a tons of short tracks and fans, it was a good way to promote local tracks and attract fans before the racing season started

I totally agree with you on the car shows! Remember walking in to the venue or mall and smelling the fresh paint and seeing those hand lettered cars! Gathering the schedules from the tracks too. Miss those days.

I would love to see you do a video covering track prep and the positive/negative impact it can have depending on how it’s done. I feel like that is a constant conversation here in Central Pa.

Mall shows at Selinsgrove and Carlisle were always a highlight of the winter back in the day. My favorite part was the smell of the fresh paint from the cars.

Billy, great show as always. You hit the nail on the head about the car shows. Between FB, X, U tube, and all the other kinds of media today. Younger people do not want to wait for ANY information today. I still like the car shows as it is something to do in the winter. I do not follow football anymore so I really look forward to the shows. PP&L is only 2 days now and it used to be 3. They always have something that I want to hear or see. One year it was Gary Balough, this year it was Ray & Erin Evernham. Erin said she is going to run her sprint car some this year. The show also gave the EMMR some time for a special on Lynn Paxton, which I thought was very nice. The Reading show at the Old Morgantown Mall got cancelled due to $$$ problems. The York Fairgrounds was pretty good. Scott gives us (EMMR) a booth and we did well on Saturday. They had a large cornhole tourney on one end of the building, and this had some pretty good prize money, which I assume comes from the show.

Yes, more Billy Dietrich talking & giving his opinion. I'd love to hear a Dietrich racing centered podcast with sprinkles of culture/political commentary. Been following since Day 1. Keep it going Heather & Billy! 8:37 We also had Mall Shows for the sprint cars & racecars here in North Central Ohio during the winter back 10-20yrs ago.

When I was a kid, I used to love going to the Reading Fairgrounds mall for the car show. We went to the show in York last year. It was a neat experience, but nothing close to how awesome the mall car shows used to be.

Absolutely 💯 about car shows. Even the Carlise fairground events have been dwindling from years ago. The internet and cost of everything just keeps people from attending and the logistics and amount of money the vendors or car show entries have to commit to makes it not sense as a business stand point to attend the shows anymore when's its less overhead and easier to buy and sell things online and even show cars online.

I agree with you, took a 4 hour trip and it was ok but didn’t think I’d do it again

Hey Wild Bill, it's Troy ur no.1 youtube fan... u sure brought up some memories... The mall shows were great, seeing drivers stepping up to 410's from other divisions was always fun. The year I went to the mall and saw Larry Shives #43 410 I almost shit a brick, to go from Thundercats to a 410 was unheard of back then. What a surprise. But that's what made those shows fun.

You are absolutely right. When we were kids that’s exactly what we looked for to brake up the winter blues! Now cars aren’t hand lettered and nothing is really new, it’s sad.
@angiliquedavison3 күн бұрын
@@GuyVogt-f5khand lettered cars were a work of art, there were usually only a few that were really good and you knew there different styles, I lettered our supermodified and Sprint car 5 or 6 times and got high praise from these guys, unfortunately I was left handed and had to do all my lettering from right to left, even script otherwise I would smear the paint, so it took me twice as long, there's still a couple around here in Wisconsin

Billy your 100% on the Car shows for nearly 10 to 15 years they have diminished sadly. I can remember the Dirt Track Shows at Fort Washington in the 90s being a total mob scene and a Winter season had to attend event. Good Luck at the Ice Breaker I'll drink a beer for ya down here in Belleair Beach Florida and wait for your U Tube analysis!

I used to go to the Syracuse show every year just to get all the schedule cards and pictures. Now days I have already read most of the tracks schedules online

On the car shows...our local track will put on a car show the afternoon of the first race so they can come early and show off their cars then go eace them that night(considering some of the racers come from up to 1 1/2 hours away)

I remember going to the show at the Old Reading Fairgrounds mall...my dad and I would go every night of the week and walk around and they would have different theme nights and have drivers each night that they would talk to and interview...it was a great time but that mall no longer exists.

Lookin' for your new merch... Here in NW Ohio, your name and Tanner Holmes always get me a "who's that?" and some good conversations. ALSO... please have Heather do a video or two. The behind the scene things are neat to learn... Some her items and menus are now in our kitchen! WillyB

There are few if any mall shows. I have done Motorsports in Oaks with our vintage race cars, it's a lot of work with little if any help.

Didn't get to see Danny? Jan 31st show Danny was in frame a lot. Started front row outside. Pulled even with Peck on backstretch, then fell to 5th.

Race Car Shows use to have a lot of Speed Equipment Vendors. Chassis builders, engine builders, trans, rear builders and Anything Racing. Recently it's more toys and Nick knacks, I no longer bother.
