As to what race has to do with it, let's be realistic. It can play a role in your decision of who to vote for. After Biden's next four years, his black vp is cued up to be a top contender for president. The man who mentioned his race meant he would choose Porter even in a race that included the excellent Kamala Harris. I think Katie Porter's appeal crosses many lines and draws a diverse group who are there for the substance. That is in no way meant to be a dig at VP Harris. Not because of the government help, but because we were getting food from food, pantries and a dumpster 😮USA😢 I’m grateful to say this is all changed for our family, but there are still many struggling and we’re not yet used to general practitioners. If you do have a general practitioner doctor your scene for 15 minutes because they get paid per patient not quality spent paid for how many patients they’re able to see in a day. Who wants to go and see a doctor for 15 minutes so the doctor can gain money while the patient still suffers who can even explain in 15 minutes what’s really going on life with health a very very twisted community of doctors? How dare Dr. Burke say she's not bringing her kids into this when she's dragging millions of other kids into this by trying to decide for them if they deserve good child care or not based on her fiat. If you're not willing to discuss what your childcare decisions were then why should I trust any opinion you have on childcare for others?

Tax payers shouldn’t be paying for your child care. Are you serious? If you can’t afford kids…then don’t get pregnant.

What Ms. Porter is saying is true. It is also the main reason that young people are refusing to have children. They simply can't afford to have them.

Katie Porter is such a brilliant woman. Really appreciated what she was saying about single mothers vs the old men in Congress. I so wish she was running for President.

I genuinely cannot think of a better way to spend federal money besides using federal money to make childcare free for most families.

Most Americans don’t want universal child care? What? How does this heritage foundation person know this for a fact? I don’t have little kids and I would support universal childcare in a heartbeat!!!

Don’t you know? I’m sure her highly paid nanny takes care of those pesky children and associated tasks. She has better things to do at CPAC, I’m sure.

70 yr old Canadian here …in 1985 I gave birth to my only child …had 6 months of PAID maternity leave and subsidized day care when I went back to work! Fast forward to 2024 and Canadians now have the option of 12 months paid maternity leave with an additional 6 months unpaid and we now have 10$ a day …day care for our children! No system can be perfect but as a single working Mother the options were fabulous! When my American daughter in law gave birth in 2017 in the US you cannot believe how shocked and saddened I was to learn that she was given only 6 weeks of mat leave from her employer …6 weeks is not enough time to heal from childbirth ! I absolutely cannot believe that what’s supposed to be the “most powerful “ country in the world is so far behind the eight ball in women and Children’s rights all the while they are trying to erase every single right that women for many generations have been fighting for ! It’s disgraceful and they should be ashamed of themselves ! Come on ladies …show these folks that we mean business …vote blue💙💙💙💙

thank you for posting your perspective to remind americans what they are lacking. IT IS NOT OKAY to provide 6 weeks to heal from childbirth for gods sake.

I know as a woman we often experience our issues with sexism being diminished and discarded, so to hear Katie Porter finally say something, really feels like a breath of fresh air. We aren’t crazy, we ARE being treated worse, we are being ignored. Go Ms. Porter!

Most americans do want universal childcare and healthcare. We do not want our money lining the pockets of industrial military complex.
@nuttygirl833 ай бұрын
What I was thinking! More people probably want their money to go to helping children than to funding more wars. My son is at a military school right now and I have many friends that serve, but we spend far more than I would want on the military complex in this country.

"too many in congress dont get it because they never had to live it!" Thank you Katie. The sensibilities of congress are incongruous with those of most Americans. The rich make laws for the rich.

Katie Porter is right on the money. I was a schoolteacher and more than half of my students parents were working parents and the kids came home by themselves. We need childcare and we need it funded by the government. We need it funded by theAmerican people.
