Arguably the most important 3D printing channel on KZbin. Love the consistent filament testing and straight talk.

can you explain why your petg-cf is 2.7x more expensive than other petg-cf filaments and 1.5x more expensive than far superior pet-cf filaments? thanks. Also you say it's working temp is 90c which is far from the truth if we are being hones, even abs' working temp is around 70c

8:44 Yes, please create a video about that. I've been in this business for about 12 years at this point and from the very beginning people have always complained about how PLA is so weak. But I think people get confused since PLA breaks suddenly when it finally breaks, compared to some other materials that have some give before they break, so people think it's weak. It could also be that people don't know that PLA has improved over the years. And before anyone says anything about the sudden breakage, yes I know that can be an issue in some cases. There is no "one size fits all"-material, and there never will be. I'm not saying it's the strongest material ever, but saying it's super weak is just plain wrong. I just think it's getting more shit than it deserves so to speak. Over the years I'd say I've used PLA for about 95% of everything I make, even for things like a press brake die to bend aluminium sheet, and I've very rarely had it fail on me (unless high temp resistance is needed, which is something I almost never need).
@lolzlarkin30592 күн бұрын
I agree. I use pla for everything unless it needs higher temp resistance.

I've been printing for about 10 years now, i have made tons of custom designs over said years from speaker mounts to cup holders etc etc bla bla lol. IMO PLA is very hard but the trade off is low impact resistance, it's brittle. Although you're totally right about PLA improving over the years. Still the deal breaker is creep for technical/mechanical parts under constant load. PETG (alone) is too flexible, unless you print it at 1mm3s flow with slight over extrusion and part cooling on (higher than normal) to temper it.. it gets VERY stiff and the slow printing gives you excellent layer bonding. BUT if you're printer can print ABS/ASA/PC at normal speeds you're better off just printing those technical plastics anyway. I print those at 250-325mms and 5,300-10,000 acceleration, custom heater block with a Micro Swiss CM2 Volcano nozzle. So i personally find myself rarely printing in PLA or PETG unless i'm making a purely aesthetic/static part like a shelf. The PC I'm typing this on is in a case i designed and is printed in PETG-CF, so i'm eating my words lol
@uhu4677Күн бұрын
I think pure PLA is a bit more brittle than pure PETG. However PLA+, PLA Pro, etc. is much tougher than PETG. And I think some Filaments, which are just called "PLA", include additives now as well. For example the "PLA Basic" from BambuLab is not basic at all.

I appreciate your honesty. Since I earn from KZbin ads approx $10/video, I am doing these tests for my needs only and I just record them and present to publicity too. And for my needs, these tests are good as they are. This 5k average views per video is a really big limitation for me. If I would't have Patreon supporters, probably I would publish 1 video per month only.

Seems like a premium PETG-CF. As usual it's easy to print, hides layer lines well, has enhanced rigidity, and has increased temperature resistance. The interesting part, as with some other fiber filled PETG, is the improved layer adhesion. PETG-CF is a really cool material!

Nice test, the Rigid X seems useful for screwed together parts for example where flex and creeping isnt desired. Regarding price, its made in Sweden here in Europe, that will make filament more expensive(and something im willing to pay a bit extra for), however they use to have good black friday deals for example. I hope they sent you a HT PC roll aswell :)
@riba2233Күн бұрын
it is not a bit extra though, that is the issue. it is like 2.7x more expensive than other petg-cf filaments which are also superior in some aspects.

I’m really curious about how Rigid X compares to the PET-CF from Siraya Tech! I picked up a roll of that stuff after watching your video on it, it’s my new go-to filament for high demand applications. I absolutely love the stuff.

I've been watching your channel for quite some time now and I very appreciate the straight forward and technical format, however, It is somewhat hard to follow your English with your strong accent. I get through it anyhow due to the value of your information but some people I think would be turned off by it. I suggest that you provide your own subtitles (CC works poorly) in a large clear format and I really think your viewership will go up dramatically. Based on your presentation and the content of your videos your channel volume should be huge and on par with other popular channels for they really don't have anything on you. Please keep up the good work.

If you don't enable ads on your videos, then YT doesn't make money from you and has no interest in promoting you because you're not generating revenue while consuming system resources.

Wow, thanks for the tests, ez szuper, de etényleg a jelenlegi ára iszonyú magas, és ugye a nozzle wear is ott van, akkor már érdemesebb beruházni egy zárt nyomtatótérbe. Egyébként mechanikailag a PLA nekem a legtöbb esetben tökéletes lenne, csak az a fránya 50°C felett kezdődő lágyulás ne lenne (meg persze örgedni is tud ami szintén bajos lehet)

To increase your engagement you need to do the same thing all channels do which is pay $$ to google, your videos will be seen by many more and it will significantly increase your channels reach even with just a $15 ad campaign you should break 50k views, it is what it is and this is exactly how their algorithm has been designed. lots of videos and papers written on the subject which can explain exactly how to maximize the timing of the ad campaign and minimize the expense. Its worked very well for the channel i post on.

This Rigid X has interesting properties, but for that price (100 €/kg for a PETG-CF? WTF?!) it has no market. PET-CF costs exactly half of it and performs way better. If you really need the enclosure you use a bit cardboard box, lol. But what's really embarrassing is the price of the regular PETG. 30 € for 700 g? Excuse me, what?

Quite a temperature range for extrusion. For any filament, what is the average-Joe/Jane hobbyist supposed to do with these ranges, print a temperature tower for every new roll of filament? How about the manufacturer do that, and publish their temp tower results in brackets beside the range listed on the spool. I'm willing to bet that their temp tower results would show a temp that is sufficient for 99% of people using it.
@Duglum6662 күн бұрын
Yes, you need to calibrate every spool of filament anyway if you want good results. The manufacturer can not know if you have e.g. a brass nozzle or a steel nozzle.
@dkessler14Күн бұрын
Temperature tower results are subjective. Some applications favor strength over aesthetics, some want the best appearance and can afford to sacrifice some strength. And in all cases, any correlation between the temperature settings on the vendor's test printer and yours are purely coincidental. Extruder design, nozzle type, and even thermocouple/thermistor calibration vary widely. Even Igor's temperature tower results aren't something I would use directly. 20g of filament is a small price to pay for confidence in your temperature settings.
@imacmillКүн бұрын
@@dkessler14 What hobbyist is doing 'strength tests' in a meaningful way? Breaking a temperature town at each level will tell a human being absolutely nothing. And I can state with some confidence that almost no hobbyist is caring about the 'apprearance' of the finish, gloss or matte. Most just want a temperature number they can feel 'safe' using, even if they know it's 'subjective'.
@dkessler1422 сағат бұрын
@@imacmill Who said anything about breaking temperature towers? It's a tool to determine *qualitative* aspects of printing a given filament at different temperatures. It's usually a given that within the recommended temp range, the hottest temperature you can print will be the strongest. But some of us are printing parts with small detail, overhangs, and bridging, and can't just arbitrarily max out the temp settings. The temp tower is a tool to determine how hot you can go on a specific printer with a specific filament and still achieve the quality needed for your application.

@warmesuppe Maybe temperature resistance but PLA CF deals with the creep and costs a lot less than Petg CF. If I needed temperature resistance I'd use ASA or other high temperature filament.

Replace "KZbin Algorithm" with "KZbin Audience" and you will have better understanding of your view counts. You make highly technical videos on a niche topic, even with the bit of humor you throw in the viewership is always going to be low. Only so much interest on this topic.

I don't really agree with this statement. For example others created video about TPU for AMS, PPA-CF etc. But those videos got 10x more views than mine. And also there are other similar videos. There are other serous limitations on the channel. A marketing company offered me their services, and as a free advice, suggested me to switch country (and use VPN). But I don't want to change those kind of things. As I mentioned in this video, my main driving force are Patreon donations, and they are incependent from views..
