@mstrsims2 Totally agree with you, and that's why, after nearly 50 years of opera going I rarely go now. It isn't worth it. The best thing I have seen in years was the mainly counter tenor production of Artaserses in Nancy some years ago. The one with Philippe Jarouskky, Franco Fagioli and Max Emanuel Cencic. One of the problems with getting older is remembering the great productions like this and having so called relevant productions now. They are an insult to good music and singing and the paying audience.

Those were the days!.... yes,and that was an A natural I sang with Ileana , not a flat .

Ileana Cotrabas is the Gilda and Isola Jones is the Maddelena, who is the Sparafucile? Yes it appears he sings a high Aflat along with the Gilda.
