Thanks for the feedback! We had a follow up video to the 5 and 6 block series but wanted to see how much those videos were viewed to see demand and where to allocate time 😅 Great to hear that they were of use to you!

Amazing works🥰 I think there are too few advanced mahjong theory instructions for English-speaking people. I also want to solve this bad situation somehow🤔

at 3:44 I don't understand why discarding 8 pin first over 9 would be the better than 9 before 8. It seems like terminals are less useful in general. Unless it's a matter of defense, where terminals (AFAIK) are safer.

Hi there! Yes, in general, if you’re going to discard a weaker block, you would be discarding the more dangerous tiles first, unless you can benefit from drawing another non terminal tile (aim for Tanyao etc). In this case, since it’s not Tanyao, discarding the 8Pin first is slightly better for now. All discards are case by case for sure though!

Just discovered this channel - looks really good. Any App suggestions for practicing Riichi?

Thank you Rob! If you don’t have enough players to play in person, I would recommend using an app or a website that lets you play. A lot of them have tutorials and lets you practice against the CPU!

I have a problem with the last one, i understand de overlap, but getting that 6m doest put us in a triple wait being better than the double wait, even if there are only a few 6m left
@RiichiMahjongCentral
@RiichiMahjongCentral 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! The same thing was pointed out by another player so I totally understand your point! The main reason the author of the book recommends discarding the 78m is because the Nido-Uke overlap. The 5 Block Theory is the basic concept of efficiently creating the blocks. The author does write scenarios where you will keep the 3 sided wait, and is covered elsewhere👍

For the last hand, why not get rid of 67 sou? Because if you get a 6 Man then it is a three way wait
@RiichiMahjongCentral
@RiichiMahjongCentral 2 жыл бұрын
67 Sou is also a valid choice for sure, but as mentioned in the video, the concern would be the “Nido Uke” part, per author. And the 3 way wait would only happen if you draw the 6 Man.

@@RiichiMahjongCentral But if you drew 3 or 9 first, why would this matter?
@RiichiMahjongCentral
@RiichiMahjongCentral 2 жыл бұрын
The main concept of this section of the Haikouritsu book is to explain the basic 5 Block principle. The same can be said if some one asks “But what if you drew 5 or 8 Sou first?”, so the main reason for this scenario would be to drop the 78 Man because of the 6 Man Nido Uke. In other books by G-Uzaku and other authors do write scenarios where you will discard 67 Sou in this example, but just not for this book and this section👍
