I was lucky to be in Amsterdam when Rijks had the Vemeer exhibition in March this year. I remember the moment I stood in front of Girl with a Pearl Earring, my breath was taken away by her gaze. She stopped time in that moment and froze me in a trance. That was the moment I got to appreciate the power of a masterpiece.

What I liked most was seeing, as Anna Krekeler said, seeing the painting "naked" out of the frame and the highly detailed five micron images that were taken. Would really like to see more of those images.

It is a controversial subject. Even the idea that a single man called Vermeer painted the 30 that are in the same size and style range - but with a tone matching optical device - has the experts in hissing fits!

Ah! From the title,of the video, I thought secret information about the painting itself was going to be shared, not about scanning and looking at the back! Then, I thought we’d be shown some of the tiles the conservator spoke of, but a big “No!” to that, as well. Which is a real letdown, because I’ve never seen the results from that technology before. Boo!

It appears as if Vermeer painted with a very liquid paint. It must’ve been flat on a table. In order so that the paint won’t run.
