Disappointed to find out the story of how Lise Mayer was treated by Rik in the end. Sounds very traumatic. I am sure it was a very nuanced and complex situation and without doubt very private and sacred between them as a couple, yet what we know of it doesn't reflect very well on Rik. I have always admired Rik but in that instance, I can only have immense empathy for Lise. I guess it's just the way it goes sometimes. But she didn't deserve that. I know that Rik expressed deep shame and regret about it, which unfortunately is insight that sometimes only comes with age, its a pity it all had to happen that way. I had heard that Lise forgave him, so it sounds like she found some solace. I know we all make mistakes. Unfortunate acts of a man who I otherwise greatly have respected. Hope Lise is doing well these days and rest in peace Rik.

He always said that was his most shameful times and she deserved better and she went on to have a happier life. He fell immediately in love with Barbara and knew she was his soulmate. However timing was off and ended up with both Lise and Barbara pregnant. But Lise lost the baby and he ran away Barbara. All very messy but all very grown up and dealt with. The pain will always be there though

It's very strange seeing all three of them so young! And even more strange seeing Rik not so much in character as he is in alot of his later interviews!!

This was around the time Mayall was having an affair with his later wife Barbara behind Lise Mayer's back. Lise looks so relaxed here, sad that she a short time later found out she was pregnant and Rik just left her in a department store and later told her it was over. She then went on to loose the baby... :( Rik although I loved your comic genius, you weren't lying when you said I'm a bit of a bastard! :)

Read somewhere that he was with Lisa & Ben in the department store & got a call from Barbara telling him she was pregnant, too. Then left instantly to meet her up in Scotland. Wild times in the 70s/80s. In the end they made their decisions & are/ were leading good lives!❤️

...just watched "How The Young Ones Changes Comedy" and was surprised that not only is Lise Mayer still extraordinarily attractive for a woman pushing 60 but also (which adds to the attraction) a girl with an edge as she wrote some of the show
