I would say that comes down to how much the technology and economics have changed since 2007. Multiple social network and video sites have come and changed how pop culture get created and shared. Also after this show the great financial crisis happened. That changed how a lot of people think about the world around them and created a need to do stuff on a lower budgets.

Compare artists from before the tech boom and now and you see a market difference in the passion I feel. And I dont think its due to there being less passionate musicians but rather, the people with money prefer to chern out mainstream stuff without soul that make them a lot of quick money.

I only recall TV ads for similarly-named record albums. It's so bizarre that they thought it was a good idea back then with all that we now know was going on in the entertainment business.
