It's good Riley likes bugs, try to keep her liking them. My eleven year old son is terrified of bugs and he can be very high maintenance if we're camping or hiking. Lol. I think kids should know which bugs to be cautious of and wary of but they shouldn't be terrified of harmless flies or anything safe.

My son transitioned to one nap right around his first birthday also I wasn’t ready for it :( but he would end up taking a longer nap in the afternoon for about 2 hours which was nice! It’s an adjustment especially them being up all morning but Jackson will do great :)

Same here my son's birthday is December 14th and my daughter's birthday is December the 18th I usually do his birthday the month before since he is older that way they have time in between and get to feel special. Then my birthday is on Christmas day so I really know the struggle.

The baby sleep consultant we've got HUGE help from said that babies aren't usually ready to transition from 2 to 1 nap until their 15...18 months old 🤔 but all babies are different 😊 Riley has grown sooo much the past year I've been following your family! My first son stopped taking 2 naps at about 1 year old too, if he slept in the morning then he wouldn't go down in the afternoon! And I also weaned him from BF at the same time, for the same reasons you mentioned. He would not stay still and would bite me and laugh!

Happy Birthday, Riley! Tell your mother you want to keep moving ahead in your life because you have things to look forward to with her. I hope Joe's mother is also driving to be with you. It looks like a hoarfrost laid on the ground overnight. It often happens in lieu of the dews of summertime. Jackson did pretty well with eating the bowl of yogurt. Their brains need the extra healthy fats until they are about age 3. And in winter we all need extra calories to burn against the cold. Can Riley put her tent in her bedroom, if she doesn't want to share? It can be a little getaway for her there when she is having quiet time, but won't actually nap. Jackson in his little winter cap in the car is too cute. There's Dancing Queen Riley, dressed to kill and dancing with Mickey. LOL. And she's actually treating Mickey like he's a real dance partner. So adorable. It is good that she wants to dress herself now and this should help you get the potty-training done. It's time. Why do you not start teaching Riley now that acting ungrateful for clothes or any gift is not acceptable? You laughed and made an excuse for her. Most children do some version of this with things they don't like. It is up to the parent to use those instances as teaching moments. Maybe when garments they need are not welcomed and they want more toys, already having opened quite a few, it is a sign that none of it has much meaning to them because there is always excess. There is even a version of this where someone goes out to dinner and turns their nose up at things they don't like and has to inform everyone at table. No one wants to hear that and it is an insult to the person who planned, prepared, or paid for the meal. Just smile and say thank you and pass on it, if you cannot eat it. Remember that a lot of what you want for your children is what you want, not necessarily what they would want. And you are establishing their standards, so if you do too much they will come to be pleased by nothing short of excess. And even then it will be expected, not special. The most wonderful gift I ever got in my life was when my father picked out a used paperback in a bookstall on Xmas Eve while shopping that was the biography of El Cordobes (Manuel Benitez) and my father knew I loved him. A used paperback, Kayla. It caught his eye and he knew it would mean the world to me and it did and it does. It is in my home right now. I learned so much about life from his childhood in Andalusia. It made me feel more loved and more special than almost any other gift I have gotten until recently. A friend of mine sent me a bright rubbery tea caddy for use in a mug that is Nessie (the Loch Ness monster) and her head sticks up out of my mug while the tea brews. I think it, too, cost a couple of bucks. It means the world to me because it relates to my heritage and what I find funny. I use it. A longtime friend with whom I exchange gifts got from me, as a hostess gift when I went to her place for a dinner party, a plastic statue of Homer Simpson grilling at his backyard grill because she loved him and it was the counterpart for her of the San Lorenzo statue I had gotten her partner, Joe, because he is such a fine chef and San Lorenzo is the patron saint of cooks. She displays plastic Homer in her kitchen over a decade later because he makes her happy. The gift was about her, knowing her. The breakfast nook looks sweet the way you have readied it for Riley's supper and cupcakes. We remember the birthdays of those we love who are no longer with us. They are just waiting somewhere else for the pleasure of one's another's good company once again. Jackson's hat is precious. Since you are not familiar with 4 season climates allow me to tell you not to wear winter outer garments indoors. They will not be as warming for you when you all are outside. Let him wear a sweatshirt with a light hood of the same material, but do not wear heavy knit winter hats and such indoors; it diminishes the help they are to you outdoors in the actual cold. But the hat on him is a classic of cuteness, just like Riley dancing with Mickey Mouse. Oh, be still my heart, it almost finished me off that Riley had to dance in the chair while singing Happy Birthday to herself! I have trouble sitting still in church during the hymns. LOL. Thanks for taking us along for her birthday celebration. Jackson's hat was spared food encrustment.
