In the hot tub scene, Bow has a binder. Also "I'm like the only one here who's not a princess" and at the end, when all the princesses glow with rainbow power, Bow glows a little bit too. He's definitely trans (I think I heard that the writers confirmed that Perfuma is trans too? But there isn't in-show evidence that I'm aware of) ALSO, the way Madame Razz talks about "my Mara" kind of hints that she was married to Mara, the last She-Ra from 1000 years ago. I disagree. I have a heart for some queer/gay romantic readings of the show (Bow and Seahawk, Scorpia is definitly gay to me, I wanna see more of Netossa and Spinerella and Bows dads). But then again: I find it refreshing to not have romance as a centre. It's closest to a cast full of aromantic canon characters I expect to see in the next years. I haven't seen this ever before and I crave for that.

Honestly, when i learned one another one of my childhood shows was having a remake, i wasn't too fond of the idea. I thought it would be just another remake amongst the other dozens of remakes from the past few years, but i was pleasantly surprised. It's more of a parade than a remake, it takes the original premise, and makes it into a much more diverse and really beautiful cartoon. Having a strong woman protagonist was pretty crazy back when she-ra first became a thing, and now, with this day in age, they did it again with even more diverse characters. It is once again sticking out from the crowd with lgbt characters and people of color. I even wonder if there will be a trans character, as that is even more tedious than gay characters because it is harder to understand.

I think Scorpia and Catra might end up being together at the end, just to be honest. It's so obvious that she is in love with Catra. It's just going to take time for Catra to warm up to her.

Scorpia is so patient and kind. I think Catra needs that. Catra cares a lot for Adora but she's got a lot of poisonous feelings towards her, even before Adora became She-ra, so I'm unsure if that would be a very healthy relationship.

It’s pretty darn clear, considering that (I forgot the episodeeeee) scorpia constantly talked about how hard she was trying to trying to impress her, she also said that she loved her, so it’s definitely a canon thing that scorpia May end up with catra in the end.

She-Ra is a great kids show! It‘s not only inclusive af but also so well written! The characters behave so naturally and the redemptions all were earned and so much better than the redemptions so many kids shows do wrong. One bad example here would be the Diamonds from Steven Universe. Unlike other examples, She-Ra doesn‘t redeem horrible monsters that don‘t deserve it at all. The show clearly makes it‘s villians work for their redemption and doesn‘t slaughter their character for the sake of harmony. Catra‘s redemption was definitely the best one I‘ve ever seen in any children‘s media. It was so heartwarming to see her try to get better, sacrifice herself for glimmer and in the end she was by Adora‘s side showing how much they needed each other. All this time Catra was being put down and cast aside while Adora got all this destiny related praise but in the end Catra was there to help Adora. Adora needed Catra to suceed and Catra needed Adora and this is such a great metaphor for their relationship. I love this show with a burning passion and even if it‘s not as serous as the stuff I like as an adult, I can still apprechiate it as perhaps the best kids show I‘ve ever seen! All of it is so good and so positive and it‘s queer and ethnic representation is so important!

Oof I just finished season 1! Wild stuff for a kids show but done masterfully and for all ages to understand. It’s downright chilling between Catra and Adora but the wholesome relationships are so heart warming and deep. Really incredible - also the queerness, diversity, and utter dissimilation of toxic gender rolls makes me happy beyond the moon it’s so good and not at all in your face in any way. Awesome video I loved all your points and they were so well explained and thought out! Incredible job!!

The underlying problem of the show is it is inconsistent and shoe horns convenient resolutions when it backs itself into a corner in order to make a point. It’s also often undermines its own points by characters being dismissive of the larger problems. Let me explain, it seeks to push the importance of feeling, emotions and communication, which is all well and good, and important, but overlooks or dismisses the core values and concerns that drive these feelings in the first place. Princess Glimmer is a prime example of choosing her desire to be with her friends but fails to see the suffering it causes her mother even after a valuable and grounding lesson should have been learned after being kidnapped by the horde. The reality of how dangerous and consequences of her actions are not addressed. Compare this kind of story telling with the fairy tales of Europe often with gruesome and horrible consequences, all to serve the goal of teaching important lessons. Overall, between copying avatars’ greater responsibility, and the points made above it feels lacking in the story telling department. Honestly, Catra seems like the only dynamic character who thinks for herself and isn’t a trope. Maybe the show she be called Catra, champion of the horde! Might get better reception. Interesting analysis of the show but needs to address the negatives with the positives, not just all positive.
