As a mechanic of thirty years I am shocked to see how some basic visual diagnostics are missed on what seems a regular basis and the simple fix is to throw parts at it based on the code reader or until it either fixes the problem or the customer gives up and goes somewhere else. It actually makes me angry that people have the audacity to charge money for such incompetence, I mean even without a scan tool lifting the bonnet and a two minute visual inspection you have found two major reasons why we have a problem in the first place. Bravo Jimmy, well done, where would these people be without you ?

It also helps that Jimmy has a huge amount of experience and cars tend to have common faults for any given model / engine option. I wonder how often he gets that deja vu feeling? 😀

These days there not mechanics anymore. There technicians and can only use a code reader and replace sensors, anything else are there stumped.

I really liked driving my E220. It was one of the first BlueTEC and was an absolute pain for NOx sensors. Yr-1: downstream Yr-2: upstream and downstream Yr-3: downstream and so on... Every year, one or two sensors.. To be fair to MB, they covered these under warranty for SIX YEARS, and recognised that there were 'issues' with the actual sensors, fitting redesigned ones every time... But when I had to start paying.... £550 each! And their servicing was expensive as well. I used to drive to Europe 3 times a year, 3500m each trip, and got excellent economy... But I'm glad it's gone now...

I had a P010106 on mine, could not find a leak anywhere and could not clear code. Had to reset the air filter to clear the fault, been good as gold since.

im going to do a 200 mile drive just to get him to look into my car, 4 garages and firing of the part cannon still issues of average regen every 15 miles, new egr and pipe new injectors 4 new glow plugs, front flexi pipe the list goes on its regenerating so much that its diluting my oil have only had the car 5 months and had 2 oil changes already

There's 35 separate computer modules on this thing,,Why would anybody want this headache of a car,,,Just for comparison ,,A top of the range Dacia duster of the same year only has 6,,,
