The recoil really makes the game available for many newer players. And I know that may seem bad to veterans. But it's actually a good thing imo cause the game is relatively still hardcore and some things do need to be catered slightly to the new comers because if you don't have new players getting into the game, then the game usually won't sustain itself. Either way great video!
@riloegaming6 ай бұрын
Something important to remember about the recoil changes; they were actually catered to, or implemented because of long time players of the game, not newcomers. The fact that new people are enjoying them is a byproduct! Win-win

for a game that has taken it's realism further and further the recoil system in the game was notoriously horrific that cod had more realistic recoil in the majority of cases
@darnoc44706 ай бұрын
Honestly, this easier recoil system is way more realistic, before the update the guns acted as if the first round was .50BMG and not .556...
@Uf0nius6 ай бұрын
I could never get into EFT because firefights involved me fighting my own character more than the enemy player. Initial few shots would send the gun barrel flying into the ceiling and eventually your PMC would muster up the courage and streght to hold the gun somewhat steady. I am used to FPS games where either I am in full control of the recoil, or have no control at all, but not the weird mix that Tarkov uses. It also felt like you would just get stat-checked by players with modded out guns who could just full spray laserbeam you down. I've recently came back to try out Arena. Ignoring the unbalanced mess that the game is in, the gunplay actually feels good.

I've been playing for almost 8 whole years now and the largest thing from then when there was only Factory and armor covered your whole torso to now is that the game is so much more accessible to everyone. Clambering, the Recoil, the stamina, weight and inertia, damage system, and so much more is now more "casual". That is a very good thing in my opinion because it's effortless to actually play the game now and you can concentrate on the MMO aspects which is player leveling, trader leveling, missions, learning maps and spawns and such. Also I'd argue it shot into slight popularity when frankieonpcin1080p first covered it in 2018 and then soared in the rivals event.

Franke did draw a lot of attention to the game, still being on mainstream attention due to his DayZ series at the time. He has a clever way of weaving stories in his videos, whether or not the details of those stories ever truly happened. This makes for great content to the viewer, but also has a frequent habit of misinforming them of what is actually going on. He structured his showcase of the game under the impression that it was open world with a full day / night cycle, where he was waiting for day and night to pass in realtime in-game before moving around the map. In reality he filmed the same map three different times at different times of day in offline mode. He also claimed to kill players, when he was only killing Scavs the entire time. I love Frankie for the nostalgia factor, but it's painful to go back and watch his old content knowing how much he cheated and misinformed people in his videos just to craft his "narratives."

They don't understand how I can put myself up to the hardship but there's just something about the game I cannot let go of. The freedom, the struggle and the catharsis of survival and triumph is what makes the game so incredible to me. This wipe I've been playing the game non-stop and my friends just don't understand why I play it. Eventually I'll find others who enjoy it just as much as I do and I'll hopefully be able to enjoy it with others who enjoy it just the same.

I started playing this game the same wipe as the addition of lighthouse. Once I started playing and getting up to flea for the first time, I realized just how special this game is and honestly wouldn't pick up any other game for the longest because of the peak I was feeling in Tarkov's combat and feeling of reward. Repetition started to get to me after a few wipes and I became a "watcher" instead of a player. Tarkov is easily the most immersive gaming experience I've ever had. And as an older gamer who doesn't really enjoy the fast-paced silliness of most popular FPS games any more, its hard to overstate how well Tarkov suits me. I do tend to play the way some would categorize as "ratting" but to me it's more like roleplaying. I play the game and make decisions based on what I would do or how I would react if I were actually in the situation IRL. I dont sprint into combat, I stop and gather audio information when I hear something and I push when I feel i have an advantage. I feel like this game rewards (most of the time) my specific playstyle and I freaking love it. Heck, sometimes I ever roleplay as Sam Fisher ;)

I think it's insane how this video hits so close to home. I'm about 700 hours into the game and I still got a good quarter of the game to learn. You also described exactly how I felt that led me to stop playing Tarkov until patch 0.14, where the grind was genuinely satisfying despite the hardships being harder than any video game I've played, yet it was addicting. However, you do eventually get sick of it when you can't compete with higher level players, or even worse, starting mid/late wipe. You quite literally get sick of it, you hop on for couple raids only to get destroyed by people who have been playing since early wipe, it's not fun at all especially when you spend so much time outside of the game (prepping PMC and loading times). Tarkov has slimmed the gear gap within players, it's so much more enjoyable now.

I feel that since I’m not spending all this time fighting and struggling with the game mechanics themselves I’ve finally been able to put time into learning maps other then Factory, Customs and Interchange

Not to mention the lack of constantly trying to get you to buy some bullsh*t. My favorite game right now hands down.

There's no drug in the world that can replace the feeling of the adrenaline rush you get after defeating squads in Tarkov. Started playing in January 2022 as well and I've never looked back, hands down the best current FPS game.

I love it that dissection videos explaining game mechanics and thesis on game theories almost always use early Halo OSTs or Mass Effect. It's quite telling how timeless those soundtracks are.

I really like your editing style! Your commentary on the game was also really informative and engaging. My interest in picking up the game has actually spiked a little because of this video essay, and I may very well have to go ahead and pick it up. Excellent video!

I started playing in the start of 2020 and haven’t been able to find something that gives me the same highest of highs when you complete 3-4 quests,make it out with somewhere around 1-2 million rubles worth of gear and loot, and had a good gunfight with a few PMCs. When I first got it I played it for maybe a week then set it down, half a year later at the start of the next wipe I was playing with a new group of friends and well I’m almost at 1500 hours now and I still have yet to find something that scratches the itch I have for games like this. Ive never been into ranked modes on let’s say COd for instance because it feels like the you’re doing the same thing over and over and over again. Same meta guns, same rotates, same mindset. In tarkov I can use something that isn’t considered meta, much like a bolt action or even this wipe, a pistol and still find success as much as I would if I was running a meta HK with M855A1. The quests that make me use things outside of my comfort zone is probably the thing that keeps the game as fresh as it does for me. Right now I’m on Punisher - Part 6 using the SVD and it’s been a good change of pace since I’ve been using T-5000s getting SBIH about halfway done. There really isn’t a game like this, one that I can make money and run whatever the hell I want and still be very successful raid to raid. Hoping to see what Grey Zone Warfare brings to the table when that comes out in EA maybe sometime this year.

I've recently hit 1000hrs and this is my favorite wipe I have ever played (I've played 3 wipes so far). Can't wait to see what comes next.

Watching this video for the first time AFTER the unheard drama hurts... I hope BSG can pull back from this, cuz I love SPT! But I still want the game to be completed.

I wonder once you actually escape from tarkov, what would happen next. Maybe a "new" pmc finds your old stash, but you have a random amount of stuff because scavs broke in and looted it. This could be like a prestige system or something along those lines

One thing players should remember with using AK iron sights is, they are supposed to hit centre of mass at X yards if you aim at the belt buckle.

Joined the wipe before this and by god do I see improvement. For some reason I just could not land sprays before and I didnt understand why. Something just felt off, but with the update, everything has changed and in maybe 50 hours, my enjoyment and skill at the game feels 10x better than before. Obviously recoil isnt the only factor but BSG really did something to this wipe and it feels amazing
