Ur right and that's what I like about this show, it's kinda like One Piece, first you got these silly adventures while encountering funny characters and making unique allies and then it shifts to a more serious and slow paced arc where most of the time you have interactions and planning about events and then you get fights but only when they are big and edgy, it shows how he's grown from being just a one man show to an entire world that moves by itself, then again I guess some people do not like this change as they came for the typical Isekai protagonist that goes in these mini adventures instead of this.

And in volume 18 he accepted he can't defeat rimuru and was waiting for Rimuru to come and save them( rimuru wasn't coming for him but for someone else). His current status is 'dead' but not truly confirm. Even if he is alive he already think rimuru is not someone he can deal with. He is already said to be not main/last villain since volume 12 where his backstory and goal was reveled. Which also show that he isn't true evil.

That hinata fight still makes me kinda pissed off because she didn't listen to him one bit and I know she was greiving and thought that he killed her but that's a bit far and reckless. he couldn't even have won that because Usurper so unless he had Raphael as well he was done for no matter what. She apologize later on but it would definitely take more time to forgive her for murdering me than after relazing the truth months later. Like imagine if irl the police came to your house shot your friend made him bleed out he miraculously survived and then learned months later it wasn't the right house and just said "sorry" doesn't matter if he survived that's still fucked up

Although the anime is a gold standard, i wish we could get the last 6 episodes of "im a spider, so what?" A remake as those last 6 feel 90% cgi and the quality of pacing and fights go into the shitter. But "im a spider, so what?" Could be on par with remiru, tbh im starving for more isekai as a monsters pov. Remonster is also another that blew me out of the water. Slowly seeing a one in a trillion monster born and convert barbarism of the species into civilization better than the opressing humans always gets me hooked. Even ossun has the ogre that portryed what im looking for in a story and backstory.

That’s not what actually happened. She never truly bonded with Ifrit and so she was aging despite no outward signs. Eventually leading to her not being able to contain him anymore. Basically she was dying of old age at the time.
