RimWorld Hardest Difficulty Vanilla Speedrun!

I stumbled upon your stream when it popped up in my feed, i am not the type of gamer that looks up how to videos and enjoy just playing games and figuring them out myself ... saying that Rimworld had stumped me, been playing since launch and had many runs but all would end mid game, i could handle mechs but the tribals would just swarm me and that would end the run. I also never realised that wealth was such a big thing and i would build nice bedrooms with marble everything and store lots of supplies .... after watching this vod i had a light bulb moment and realised why i was failing every run. Started a new run managed my wealth and built your burn box (OMG that is overpowered and removes a lot of mid/late game problems with tribals and manhunters) anyway i had my first space launch so thank you .

there is a different type of kill box that i am sure Adam is aware of. it requires longer play time.. but is worth it. is opposite to fire.. COLD! build longer tunnel with a very slow walkable corridor and turn the freezers down all the way down!

I just found this channel and I think your personality rocks man! Ive been playing rimworld since it was in beta back in 2014-16. I remember it was around 5$ on their website and they would email you like 5 copies of the game and when they updated it you would get 5 more! I was in a small high school so its safe to say the whole entirety of the school was playing rimworld. Im glad to see someone who makes rimworld videos doing well!

I think the speedrun should be based on how many in-game days it took to escape the planet instead of a real-time stopwatch to time speedruns imo.

Out of curiosity, would it be faster to build a sterile lab for research speed for this speedrun in particular or is it too prohibitively expensive/diminishing returns on value?

I've tested it on stream with dev mode for Rimionship etc. The answer was basically - it is only worth it to have some sort of non-dirt flooring for the boost. After that and an analyzer it doesn't really matter.

Collision means that enemies will not stack on each other, and they will enter 1 by 1.

Drop pod raids are really rare, and with all the tribals as enemies, and the outlanders as allies(aside form pirates does are the only factions that can drop pod in) its even more rare.

@@alfonsowangs4236 I dont know if this trick works any longer, but keep a powered turret in your base that the drop raiders can target, then they will always run towards the powered turret first, even if they landed on top of a colonist.

I wasn't using biphasic for most of this as I needed things done faster. Production was more important than in my long runs.

I imagine theres some silly duping or something" Checked it out, any% is just split the party to manipulate/prepare for the ship spawn, wait on forage until its here, then go in the ship with whatever guy is closest and then wait like 15 minutes for the credits to hit. Actually dreadful. I dont blame you for not wanting that.

You build a roofed / enclosed area that takes a long time to walk through. Then, when a raid comes, you use something that creates fire (there’s many guides on KZbin for what exactly) and over time the temperature in the Burn Box will get so high that Raiders will just pass out from the heat or die. Works in every raid but mechs. There’s quite a few details to go with that, so make sure you watch a guide before attempting it. There’s a ton of ways things can go wrong / not work.

No Pause Challenge mod has this option, that's the one he uses. Anyway, there's a "Smart Speed" mod available which leaves the pause option intact and has various other cool features

...it's a year-long perma-summer map. Those map types are vanilla. You can literally just watch the video and see the map choice, mod screen, etc lol. Here's the timestamp of me specifically looking for a year-long growing forest near the equator so I don't have to worry as much about growing temps - 3:37
