Thanks Phoebe. 5 years in and i really thought it was broken. Started as tribal, worked my way up in the tech tree. Small raids, occasional manhunter pack, nothing to worry about. Then year 5 happened. Volcanic winter, followed by toxic fallout, luckily i had enough power to grow crops indoors. Then a ffing mech cluster sets up base nearby with an EMI device. So no power... no food, and still toxic fallout. Tribals were still mostly equipped with swords and bows. Tried to take down the mech cluster, but not a chance in hell. 2 people now survive in base, i will gather the essentials and set up shop outside of the EMI device's influence.

I was playing with Phoebe with a tribal start, our second raid ever (still single people because we were so poor) was one woman who was high on NEARLY EVERYTHING, she got to my base before I could get everyone to the sandbags and she was faster than the bows, she ended up downing/injuring 4 out of 5 of my colonists, with the last one standing incapable of medical. I had to make the least injured pawn take care of everyone, he then developed an infection. Surprisingly I managed to recover things but I could have lost the colony to one insane crackhead

My experience with phoebe on a heavily modded rimworld. Me: build giant base with strong defense. Phoebe: years later nothing happens Me:..... boring Phoebe: send in 200 scrin mechnoids Me: *panic* send colonists to first line of defense and 2 mortars. Phoebe: breaks first line of defense and loses 50 out of 200 units. Continue pushing. Me: escape all injured colonists to hospital and have second line of defense turret and 2 mortars handles the rest. Phoebe: breaks second line of defense, loses 100 out of 200 units. Me: *panic* third line of defense is only 4 turrets. Mortar team mood is getting low. Colonist throws tantrum, destory mortar. Sets of chain of reaction downing the mortar team. Phoebe: pushes through last line of defense. Me: GDI ally comes in to save the day due to 100+ allies relationship. *sigh of relief* no colonists dead, just expensive defense rebuilding. Phoebe: 2 years later... Me: bored. Phoebe: sends in umbra force with orbital strikes on colonists. Me: gameover

played 80 hours of the ''normal rimworld experience'' so i was like lets try a new colony with icreased difficulty. i went to Phoebe Rough. so a long time no raids nothing and i thought is it broken or something wtf is going on this isnt so bad 2 days later Malaria - Heat Wave - Solar flare! managed to rescue them all everyone was healed and a minute later or so . a siege was happening. got rid of the 2 mortars so they decided to invade my colony. managed to beat them off. i undraft my people. bam i get raided with pods in the middle of the goddamn base. i draft all my people together. but before i could make them move a poison ship dropped just outside my base. after fighting the raiders and winning without losing anyone it was time to clear the poison ship right away. but phoebe is like nope. not without a toxic fallout i shoot the ship. and 2 centipides with blast cannons pop out while mech rush towards my people. we survived but lost 6 people with us. now i have my planter and builder left. :( to bad you cant make kids in Rimworld though :/ would make this a bit easier to handle haha. but im not giving up yet. cant wait what she will throw at me next.

I've been watching some of your videos and i don't like what im seeing, Not your content itself that's fantastic but i mean the prospect of having raids with 15+ hostiles, Im just completing my first year and have a large indoors garden that hogs 18k watts and nets me a thousand rice per day but that's about the best thing in my colony, Need to set up some defenses now.

depends on the storyteller but usually base size affects raid size (turrets will really screw with raid size so use the efficiently)

@@RaithSienar yeah, in general, as colony wealth goes up raid difficulty (number of baddies & quality of gear -- that is, not necessarily that pirates will show up with "excellent quality" assault rifles, but rather instead of 5 guys with machine pistols, it's 39 guys with power armor, rocket launchers, and miniguns... it's still usually normal/poor gear, but it becomes more destructive as you get wealthier)... turrets are considered "valuable" mechanically by the game AI, so if you build a ton of them it goes "wow look at all your fancy expensive furniture, sure would be a shame if I dropped a ship full of two dozen centipedes right on top of it all"

My short story on every winter : Making a biodome with sun lamps and heaters but can't adjust heaters cause they use more wolts than my WHOLE base does... and i actually die while keeping to try and wasting all resources... But hey with the sacrifice of that save now i know that chickens have no f***ing use but cutting all plants around your base to stop fires. But again with the help of that save i have also learnt that boomalopes are perfect use when i just saw Self-Tamed Animal at bottom right and it's a booamlope i just said WTF am i gonna do with this and saw it can be milked for chemfuel and then i advanced to chemfuel generators in only 3 days... But most importantly that boomalope was a male and a female boomalope entered my map in 1.5 or 2 game YEARS now i have 5 of em (2 babies) (I searched female ones every day there was 7 on my map but all was male)

I put it on the hardest difficulty thinking it would be EASY I lost because of these reasons: Fire in base from inferno mortars, plague and comatose wiping half my pawns, sappers who drilled through walls and mech clusters who came through those holes to anihilate a quarter of my base and lock my last pawn inside the mountain base now with only one room not 1000 celcius, and I put my last pawn who was sick as he'll and only standing from ironwill trait into the cryo"thingy" forgot name, and that was how my really unprepared base got wiped in one day and I cried while laughing because it was the best ending I had ever had in vanilla Ps. I watched the chaos for a bit and thought about trying again after cheating in three new pawns but realised the map was very rich and these would be weak untrained pawn late game... I gave up, satisfied

phoebe is a meanie. you get a lot of time ot build up, but if you dont use that time well, you can get stomped hard on high difficulty. cause what follows after the long break is one wave after another of relentless attacks.

If anyone is wondering, there's a reason this happens in Phoebe games: During those long stretches of peace Phoebe will send you all kinda of useful things and you're able to build up a lot of colony wealth. The severity of events is decided by your wealth. Richer=get hit harder. But just cuz you have a ton wealth in a few areas doesn't mean you have the supplies or defenses needed to deal with whatever mega-event is about to happen. So if she sends you saaaay... a master sculptor who can fill the colony up with beautiful statues to boost beauty or sell them to get rich...be cautious lol.
