It was a bittersweet episode. Bunny was able to save many of the townspeople lives before her untimely death in the plane crash! I can't help but wonder if a thunderstorm was in the forecast. Why did the person in charge refuse to postpone the picnic for another day, as Bunny suggested? I mean, my hometowns homecoming game was postponed on account of bad weather!

This is one of my top favorite episodes because Maggie McNamara is so compelling. Yes, they could have used a more serious title. And, yes, it's true that the storm would have kept people away from the picnic anyway. Some have suggested that Hamner should have come up with some other reason for the plane crash, such as a mechanical problem. Then there would have been no storm and people would have attended the picnic as planned, thus necessitating Bunny's interference.
@kdusel19913 ай бұрын
The twist saved the whole episode.
@trinaq3 ай бұрын
I agree, the twist was the most compelling part of the episode, which sadly only happens towards the end. We're led to believe that Bunny is being selfish by forcing the townspeople to attend her show instead of the picnic, but once we realise that she was trying to save them, it becomes bittersweet.
@RoninDave3 ай бұрын
I think that was the point. We're supposed to see it from the "mortal" point of view as it appeared to her sister and others that Bunny was being too "Hollywood." I thought it was going to be a humbling story where she gets some kind of a comeuppance. The twist saves an otherwise mediocre episode which under better hands might have been a classic.

I so agree with you. I never understood why people love this episode so much. My big problem with it is, the big rainstorm. It would have been called off, thus saving most people anyway. Her being on the plane is irrelevant in my opinion. But it was an interesting concept.
