So glad I found your video. I took my rings apart and had no idea how to re-assemble them. This video was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much!!!

I'm pleased you managed to use the video to reassemble your rings. It's a simple design, one that has been around for about 100 years with very little change in that time!

I was able to remove a set of silver & replace with gold without taking the rings apart. I understand why you do if the rings gap but is there another reason? I’m a newbie to ring changing, but it was surprisingly easy. Now that I’m watching your video, I’m second guessing myself.

Yes if you know where the locking tab is located it is possible to slide a thin bit of plastic under the ring mech to lift the tab and that will let you remove the rings without taking them apart. However there is a small risk of damaging the leather doing this. But I'm pleased you managed to change yours. Contact me if you need any assistance.

@@SteveMorton beginners luck maybe. And, thank-you! I will most definitely take you up on that.

Can you change the rings on a A5 Malden?
@SteveMorton Жыл бұрын
Sadly not easily because they are riveted in and you have to drill those out to remove the old rings. What is the issue with the existing rings?

One of the rings does not close all the way. I can send you a picture if you like to see it :). @@SteveMorton

Hello I watched your video at kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6e8fWOXe9qfosU earlier today. I asked you a question and you asked me what type of binder I was using. For some reason, comments are turned off on that video now-- care what's going on with that so I'm trying to answer you on this videos comments. The type of binder I am referring to is just a Trapper Keeper. I still, however, have my mother's words ringing in my ears: " use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without" so I try to fix just about everything before resorting to throwing it out!

Thanks. I added a link to this video on the other one last night and without realising it changed a setting that turned off commenting on that video. I've restored it now! I'm not familiar with that brand but I will check them out when I get a moment. Cheers

Ah I think the '3 Ring' set up you are talking about is the wider spaced three rings seen a lot in the USA. The 3 ring Filofax I mentioned is quite small and the rings are spaced by 19mm, a very different type of animal.

@@Philofaxy okay thank you for checking in to it- I may end up having to trash it despite my "use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without" standard! 💙 thanks again
