Hi Michael, First off don’t put your self down, the reason most people do not get something is that is was not explained properly in the first place. Take the instructions for the Ring doorbell. If you blindly follow the instructions and it does not work. This does not make the user an idiot but the person that wrote the instructions or the person that change the product after the instructions were written with out updating them. Not the end user. Second Thanks, for you comments, this is why I do the videos and why they take us so long to edit. Some videos have 2 hours of me failing to get something to work and after the edit the video is 30 minutes long! All the best Dave

Hi Liane, Thank you for your comments, I have to agree with you, I struggled to get it off the mounting bracket. I may try and make that a short video as I am sure others struggled with it. Hi Toby, Glad you liked our video and found it helped. I have not experienced that my self but if something is going wrong during first setup then yes uninstalling the app and starting again is a good option. To save time you could try just clearing the app data and cash first then uninstall and reinstall the app if it is still not working. well i must say what a review and step by step installation tutorial the letters in the instruction booklet are so small i would have to use a magnifying glass to read every step was easy to follow even the echo dot i have amazing so now i donot have to buy the ring chime thanx fella 10/10

I might have missed it, but does anyone know if the Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Gen requires the jumper cable in the doorbell chime when wiring it to an old doorbell? I previously had the basic wired Ring doorbell and that one required the jumper wire, I cant find any clear information anywhere if I'm to removed the jumper wire when upgrading to the new or to leave it installed?

Hi Mr2010 I think this may help, from what I can tell the 2nd gen only works with a wireless chime such as All-new Ring Chime Pro amzn.to/40g55pX or Ring Chime amzn.to/3MWx5vU difference is the pro has 5g WiFi or any eco device amzn.to/43O1vXo the shows will show a live feed of the door bell and can do two way conversation the dots only work as a chime / notification devise. Hi there thanks 4 great vlog please can u help we had a ringer then got new ringer 2 generation and we set it up then we got echo show and tried to set it up but when motion goes off it only comes up on echo small up in left hand corner please can u tell me how we can get it full screen as we r not very good on these things and i have dyslexic so i need all the help i can get Great vlog and we both have liked and subscribed

Hi Angela, I think you have it all set up right. Motion events are just a small note in the corner, whereas Ring (button push) events should appear much more prominent with a picture and the option of answering the doorbell. If you have multiple echo shows/devices that can show the Ring event only one will get the notification and picture of the event. You should be able to set which one this is. Hello Bren. I was going to ask you about replacing the battery in en Ring Doorbell Gen 2. It turns out that it is a flat battery - ring doorbell 5um5e5 battery. What a shame that the case has to be dismantled to fit it. Kind regards, George

Hi George, The Ring Video Doorbell Gen 2 is not a consumer removable battery, so I expect it to be a flat battery as you said. This instruction set is for Gen 1 but might give you a starting point if you want to do it yourself. www.ifixit.com/Guide/Ring+Doorbell+Battery+Replacement/95362 How long have you had it? Great info. Ring quick start is lacking. Firstly how to remove the mounting plate info is not ideal. Secondly Ring should state that you must install the APP first using the data matrix code on the quick start instructions. After that it is fairly intuitive. it is important to also use the data matrix code on the chime or any additional devices first to get the handshake with the APP.

I wonder if not scanning the QR code from the instructions could be causing the phone number problem others are having as this seems to be a random yet common problem. During setup Ring message that it does not recognise my mobile number as valid. Checking the app reviews, this is a common problem that Ring do not seem to have corrected. Tried all the suggested solutions from other users, nothing from Ring themselves works. After 2 days finally got it to recognise my mobile number as valid. Comments on the app suggest some have returned their doorbells because of this problem and being unable to use the devise. Obviously your mobile was easily recognised but you might want to look at this issue?

Hi Tony, I remember having fun and games getting the QR code to scan, but no problems with having my phone number being recognised. I watched the unedited footage to see how I typed it in and I did not user our country code of +44, I just typed our number normal so just 07...... even throw the instructions say [phone] so it could be a country code problem were users are following the instructions putting in +?? where they don't need to! If that did not work try with the country code. Make sure you selected the right country/ Region. You could try clearing the app cash and data and starting again. What country are you in? Hi Joe, The Ring Doorbell 2nd Gen has a built-in battery with the option of being mains powered.
