How to Install Ring Doorbell Wired

In this video, I will show you how to install The Ring Doorbell Wired 2021. Your Ring doorbell will have to be wired in where your old doorbell button is. Unboxing, Features, Setup, Installation,
STEP 1 1:08
TURN OFF THE POWER TO YOUR DOORBELL
AT THE BREAKER
First, you must turn off the power on the breaker box. If you're not sure which breaker to turn off, contact an electrician for help.
STEP 2 1:20
USE THE BLACK CABLE AND CONNECT IT TO
YOUR OLD DOORBELL CHIME/TRANSFORMER
Now that the power is off, let's install the included black jumper cable from bag C to your doorbell chime. First, remove the cover. Then, loosen the terminal screws marked "Front" and "Trans", taking care to leave the existing doorbell wires in place. Connect the jumper cable to these terminals and tighten the screws, and just pop the cover back on. Get your Ring doorbell and remove the faceplate by pulling from the bottom side while you gently push against the glass.

REMOVE THE EXISTING BUTTON
AND DISCONNECT THE WIRES
Now, let's uninstall your existing doorbell button. Unscrew it from the wall and disconnect the wires. We'll need access to those wires, so make sure they don't fall back into the wall.

USE THE DEVICE AS A TEMPLATE
TO MARK WHERE TO DRILL HOLES
THEN DRILL HOLES AND INSERT THE ANCHORS
Use your Ring doorbell as a template to mark the screw hole locations on your wall. If you're installing on stucco, brick, or concrete, use the one-quarter inch (1/4") Mason rebit to drill holes in your wall. Then, insert the included wall anchors. If you're installing on wood or siding, you don't have to drill any holes.
STEP 5 3:24
CONNECT THE WIRES TO THE SCREWS
ON THE BACK OF DEVICE
IT DOEST MATTER WHICH ORDER
THE WIRES ARE CONNECTED
JUST BE SURE THE WIRES
DONT TOUCH EACH OTHER
DONT OVERTIGHTEN THE SCREWS
Connect the doorbell wires to your Ring doorbell. Loosen both terminal screws on the back. Then, loop a doorbell wire around each one. Tighten the terminal screws to secure.
STEP 6 3:47
PLACE THE DEVICE ON THE WALL
AND DRIVE IN THE SCEWS
Now, let's screw in your Ring doorbell. Feed any excess wiring back into the wall if you can if not just tuck them behind the doorbell button as you found them. Then, mount your Ring doorbell using screws from the bag labeled A.
STEP 7 3:57
PUT THE FACEPLATE BACK ON THE DOORBELL
MAKE SURE ITS SECURED TO THE DEVICE
INSTALL THE SECURITY SCREW AT THE BOTTOM
OF THE DEVICE
You can re-attach the faceplate. To secure it, get the special security screw from bag B.
Insert the security screw into the bottom of your doorbell and tighten it.
STEP 8 4:10
RESTORE THE POWER TO THE DOORBELL
Now you can restore the power at the breaker box.
STEP 9 4:20
YOUR RING DOORBELL IS NOW INSTALLED
OPEN YOUR RING APP AND
SET UP YOUR NEW RING DOORBELL
IN THE APP
CONNECT IT TO ALEXA
Now that everything is installed, open the Ring app and start the setup process.
Then, just follow the instructions in the app.

The way it works is when you have a light on at night say porch light. It thinks it's daytime so you get color.

I already had a door bell so what I worked for this install. Ring Video Doorbell Wired requires 8 to 24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 8VA to 40VA.

I'm reading mixed responses as to whether you can still use your existing chime with this. Wish some could just say yes or no, lol

No . But if you have Alexa any of them can chime for you. It really easy and sounds so much better. You can choice a chime. They still have the sound your use to or any other one. Plus it can say someone is at your doorbell and chime. Its pretty cool. I would get it and not think any more about it. I was once wounding myself but now I know. I love it and would never go back.

They are the same but very different. One has to have control over your doorbell the other installs in your door. Both may have a diffrent view. I would go with the wired for your doorbell .

Not that I know of. You can get a chime from any Alexa device.

No you can use any Alexa device to hear the doorbell. You can choose diffremt chimes as well and it will say someone is at your door bell .

In this case, I would use this one wired and buy the Ring Doorbell battery for the backdoor. You could wire in a backdoor doorbell and have it wired together at the chime. To much work for this, but you could.

I noticed this on my laptop no video feed. Works on my tablet and my phone and echo show 5 and 8. I will have to look into this for you and get back to you why.

It is indeed accessible on the desktop, however you won't get realtime alerts nor will you hear the chime. You would do well with an Amazon show

That "jumper wire" for the old chime needs to be installed AFTER the power is tuned off. Granted the doorbell switch is still open, but the power should be off.

what is the jumper for? Isn't that shorting it as if the doorbell was being held in? Is that why the inside bell doesn;t work? What happens if you dont use that? My video doorbell is NOT a ring and it rings my inside bell as well as alerting my phone. i do not have a subscription,. WHat happens with RING if you dont have a subscription?

The jumper wire makes the bell switch wire To Neutral, so you have a P and N now at the bell, do not push the old bell when powered, as it’s a dead short.
