My wife bought one of these rifles. For years she had been using my old Remington Model 511X which was 60 years old and was a hunting/plinking rifle. I was so impressed with it, I bought one for myself! For the price (well under $400 USD each) you can't beat the accuracy. You would have to spend twice as much to get 10% better performance. Both rifles perform very well with CCI Standard Velocity ammo. I have a 5 shot group pinned to my bulletin board of .708" at 100 yards. With some US Surplus 'Ball, cal. .22 Match' I have a group of .481" at 100 yards. But that ammo is considerably more expensive and much less available than CCI standard velocity. The Remington got handed down to one of our grandsons.

I bought that exact rifle. I can't believe how nice the trigger is. It's better than some of my timley triggers on other guns. Great video. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos with it.

From what I've seen, a lot of the savage Mk2s shoot pretty well, especially when you consider their price point. The downside is their fit and finish isn't the greatest and they have some issues with extraction/ejection and the magazines aren't the best. They make good barrels, just not as nice as some other stuff.

My biggest complaint with the Mk2 is the magazine. I’ve had terrible luck with them splitting.

Picked up a Savage MKII in .17 Mach II three years ago. Have used it all three years in the local squirrel hunt tourneys. It's THAT accurate. My Marlin 39A hasn't left its case since (I should check in on it).

I’m amazed at how good it’s shooting. Had to send mine back. The barrel is terribly machined. Won’t hold a group at all. Was about to write Savage off but maybe not. Have to see how mine shoots when I get it back. It’s the 16.5 inch version. Wanting a 21 or 22” version.

@ I hope so too. I was really looking forward to shooting it. I have a stock coming from a TR model. After talking to the customer service representative I believe they will fix it. She looked at my scope pictures and said she didn’t believe that they let it out the door. It was manufactured in November.
@krm944
@krm944 6 күн бұрын
@ I think any manufacturer can let one slip by- it’s not the IF- it’s the WHEN- and what they do about it afterwards that makes the difference. I emailed them about a military discount program (it’s an amazing savings!!!) and they were quick to reply with the info I needed. My little boy is getting a left hand 300BO from them. If I don’t find a used MK2 soon, I’ll be adding a MK2 to the order!

@ yeah I’m still considering getting more rifles from them. You’re right about them making things right. If they do that I won’t hesitate to buy more Savage rifles. They have incredible centerfire rifles at budget prices.

As if I just randomly came across your channel today. And ironically you posted this video today. I have a mark 2 btvs (stainless) I haven't shot it in a year and just today I pulled it out to look at it and was thinking about bringing it out to the range tomorrow night. My best group was about 0.5 inches at 100 yards with lapua midas +. I'm also in Ontario over around Midland.

Wow! She definitely shoots! I would love to hear a little about the scopes you use when shooting, just a simple comment on glass quality and how you like it if you would recommend it for the cost. I know you have quite a variety of scopes including a razor, viper, Arken also the Discovery opt scope. I was thinking of getting a high-quality optic like the Razer Gen II. I believe you mentioned you hated the Arken you were using in your 4 gun challenge. Is the Razor leaps and bounds better than the Discovery Optics scope?
@BROTUNED
@BROTUNED 6 күн бұрын
Honestly the best bang for the buck is the discovery ED PRS 5-25 I have a couple of them as well as a couple 4-20 and 1-6. As far as glass clarity goes obviously the razor is the best but you would only see this is you were looking at them side by side and the difference is honestly very marginal. That’s why I bought so many more of them. For the price of one razor you could get 6 Ed PRs scopes and on a 22 rimfire it’s a no brainer. I like the Ed PRs better than the viper PST gen II. I received one ED PRS 5-25 and one ED PRS 4-20 for free to test and I was so impressed I bought more using my discount code. I tried an oh hunt scope on my savage and it was absolutely garbage I don’t recommend it
