If you play this game for the first time, the first character you’ll ever battle in this game will be Onion Pixie, which is way too easy, because aside from 15th Anniversary, he never rotates his Puyos.

I have a question on the puyo timeline. If pp7 is canon but pp20 is a spin-off is it still canon? If it isn't how do ringo and amitie know each other? beside reintroducing each other. And where does that place pp15

Puyo 15th takes some place around fever 1 and 2, puyo 20 takes place after puyo 7

I know this comment is 2 years old, but I'm clarifying for anyone else reading: The only Sega era (fever and later) puyo game that isn't cannon is 15th Anniversary, which is FULL of things that couldn't possibly be canon, like Primp Town becoming edible and all of the primp students having to attend Satan/Dark Prince's school. (Also, how would EVERYONE win the tournament and make their wish?) The canon storyline, based on the dialog in the games I've seen, is most likely the rest of the Sega era games in the order they were released: Fever -> Fever 2 -> 7 -> 20th -> Tetris -> Chronicle -> Tetris 2

Aaaa why do wii games run better on my pc than ds games?

My guess is both the Wii had a architecture similar to the GC, and thus, their features could be easier to adapt rather than build from the ground up. The other one being the Dolphin project being better documented/planned, while there isn’t the definitive DS emulator.

I think it's because the Wii has a similar GPU to PCs, allowing them to just translate the wii gpu instructions to PC gpu instructions, and Dolphin has a dynamic recompiler too for the cpu. On the other hand, DesMuME's dynamic recompiler sucks and has to be turned off, and the DS gpu is so different from a PC gpu that the whole rendering system has to be emulated in software (meaning on the cpu), which is way slower. DesMuME's codebase also seems to be a total mess that no sane person would dare to maintain.

Is Ringo the only default character in this game or does that only apply to the story mode? I’m trying to figure out which characters are default and which are unlockable, but can’t find the slightest reference to character availability status anywhere. Even the wiki doesn’t list anything about that

In the story mode Ringo's is the only plot available from the get-go.

I’m not sure if you’ll see this cuz you asked a month ago but rcharacters are unlocked from the get go in free battle barring alternate costumes

@@maqma_2118 Satan, Carbuncle, Ecolo, and Ms. Accord have to be unlocked through story mode, or you can just hold L+R and press up, down, right, left, x, b, y, a on the title screen to unlock pretty much the whole game.

I believe it depends on who lies where in the stage; as in, Stage 1 is easiest and Stage 8 is hardest. Ecolo, for example, is Feli's 6th opponent rather than 8th.

In free battle his AI is tied with Dark Prince (Satan) and Lemres.

Unfortunately, it's Japan exclusive, but since original-DS and PSP games are region free, you can get those games with the downsides being higher prices for imports, along with all of the text being in Japanese. 20th Anniversary is the greatest Puyo Puyo experience you can get, so I really wonder why it never left Japan.
