He was also a creatively gifted musician who made MANY of the Beatles tunes what they were. I could name so many. Ticket to Ride comes to mind. Without Ringo Starr, just a silly tune. With him, a masterpiece.

@@curandero88 His drumming on Rain is pretty fucking tasteful and I love him. But I've heard he can be a bit of a dick. And this is coming from a person who worships the Beatles and think they were the greatest thing to ever happen to me, outside of my family. And by family, my beautiful dogs are included.

A family friend showed me Meet The Beatles for the first time, and I just fell in love with them. What I find interesting is how Ringo was the stand out, and I wanted to play drums, not the guitar or to be a singer. Christ I loved that those guys.

In 1968, when I was 8, I had a crush on George. I don't know how many hours I laid on my floor, listening to Beatles' records, staring at my huge poster of George and the other posters of the Beatles, day-dreaming of the day I'd marry George & we'd live happily ever after in his estate in England. It won't happen in this life, but when I pass, I'll queue up in the line to marry George in the next life, although I suspect he'll have moved on to Nirvana by that time. He has subconsciously influenced so many aspects of my life.

George helped Ringo get his solo career started by writing and playing on his songs. George wrote It don't come easy for Ringo and later recorded it himself. George Harrison was by far the most talented Beatle and one of the most underrated guitar players of our time. Without George there wouldn't have been a Beatles. His riffs in Beatle songs became some of the most classic in music history. The world misses George Harrison...Music misses George Harrison!

I love George Harrison, his music and his belief system. His guitar grew and grew over the Fab years into a thing of great beauty. I must say, however, that Paul McCartney was - and is - not only the most talented Beatle but the most talented popular musician of the last hundred years. It was a cosmic slot machine that gave us four geniuses in a backwater seaport and the coins spill out to this day. We'll not see the likes of them again in our lifetime.

Well, yes, but Paul only started consistently touting that four-sides-of-the-square message *after* George's death. Before then, he was obsessed with the McCartney-Lennon songwriting thing and being recognised as the true Beatles avant-gardist (rather than John) - as Ringo said just before the Concert for George in '02, Paul was being "under-handed" in his self-interest. I don't want to take away from the spirit of your message, but Paul McCartney's statements are always, and always have been, very calculated and agenda-based. Ringo, on the other hand, just transcends these issues: it all happened, and he's not really bothered about what anyone else thinks. Which is just one reason he was so vital to the Beatles whole.

What a beautiful tribute to the best of friends. I recently read a biography of Harrison. He loved Ringo. Really loved him. He said Ringo delivered the best back beat of any drummer in the business. Ringo said that he was visiting George at the very end. Days away. Ringo had to leave after a time to go tend to his daughter in New York (they were in England) as she was having surgery. George said, "You want me to go with you?" A real offer made from his deathbed. That's friendship. Rest in Peace George.

Great song and a great tribute to George. I've just heard it for the first time. You get the feeling that Ringo and George were best friends, in part because of the understandable focus on the Lennon-McCartney partnership. The Beatles wouldn't have been the Beatles without George and Ringo!

This touches my heart. So beautiful. Touches me in a way that not all songs do. Written from Ringos heart. I’ve always loved George, since I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of me listening to his music on my parents computer, with the biggest smile on my face, heart, and soul. Especially “Here Comes The Sun” George was like the sun, bright and full of Love and light that shined through his beautiful music. George was a beautiful man with a Beautiful Soul. Thank you, George. “With Our Love we Could Save The World” -George Harrison “Within Without You” Peace and Love to all 💜💜💜
