It's strange how young people who have been addicted to substances, when they get older they look young. My theory is, if you take loads of substances, Clapton, for instance, you have spent most of your life not using many facial expressions. You are so out of it, totally unaware of worries, that they spend their life in a repose state. Where the rest of us, worry about wages, kids, food, bastard husbands and get worry lines, frown lines etc. They don't give a shit cos they're out of it.

See that gray hair on the right side of his head? He's had that since he was a kid but it was covered up when he grew his hair longer with the Beatles. He was so sick as a kid that part of his hair went gray. If you look at pictures of him from the 1950s when he had his hair combed like this, you can see it, the gray stripe. It;s amazing how that happens. Same thing happened to my Grandfather when he fought in WW2, he came back and had a gray stripe in his hair even though he was 21. Fear did it

@Chris Anagn. Unfortunately, yes. They had a falling out in the mid-70s that they never really hashed out before John was killed. From the various things I've read, it kind of started when John was supposed to perform at the Concert for Bangladesh and pulled out last minute. I think they made amends after that, but then John flaked out on him again in '74 when George flew to NYC to sign the Beatles' final "break-up" documents. When George's autobiography I Me Mine came out a few months before John's murder, he said in an interview he was very hurt by the fact that George didn't mention him once in the whole book (not sure if that's true or not).

Sorry Yoko, but saying Ringo didn't know John as much as she did was cruel. The Beatles met as teenagers and saw all of life before she came along. It's a bit of a kick in the teeth to Ringo. You will see him again Ringo. Peace & Love.
@fantasypgatour6 жыл бұрын
Oh my god, seriously? please grow up. John himself said he had a stronger connection with Yoko than anyone else in his life, furthermore she didn't say he didn't know John like her, simply that he didn't know how she felt, Yoko and John lived together through the majority of the 70's and were very close at the time of his passing, John only saw bits and pieces of Ringo in the 70's, so no doubt the pain would have been worse for Yoko. Furthermore you're getting bitter at the reactions of an incredibly recent and raw widow, have some bloody respect and instead of just carelessly uttering the words peace and love why don't you try to embody them.
@wh41936 жыл бұрын
michelle88960 I know! That was very rude to say, I mean they've been friends since 1960. John was close to Ringo, too, that's not the right thing to say to someone after their friend of maybe 20 has just died. That was an awful thing to say to Ringo. Peace and Love

4:01 Not to play armchair psychologist, but I think the reason Ringo said "this band" with such disdain was because he hated what "the band" did to all their friendships. John's death probably made him realize that all the fighting and bickering in "the band" was stupid and wasteful... John's death probably reminded him of what is important in life, and probably made him wish that everyone in "the band" could go back in time and not take each other for granted.

i can't stand Yoko Ono either but i get why she said what she did back than to Ringo. true they didn't see each other that much Ringo admitted that much but that doesn't mean they weren't close i mean they were like brothers for god's sake. so i'm glad he got to in a way say goodbye to him without knowing it of course. i think she could have said it a different way but than when it's all fresh and all that i can also see why she said it. as close as her and John were she was his world in a way, i have never understood what he saw in her and i don't think anyone alive or dead will understand that at all. but Ringo wasn't bitter about her comment either cause he did also understand where she was coming from too. true she could have said it a bit better but when it comes to shit like that it's harder to express to someone how they feel or why you can't begin to understand how they feel. for example my uncle no joke killed himself in (2007) i wasn't close to him at all sadly, but i'd say i dunno how my aunt my marriage felt but they were separated at the time so i dunno how she felt either. but my grandmother it hit pretty damn hard too... and i can say i have an idea on how she must feel but than i'd be lying cause i've never had a killed do that before so i wouldn't begin to understand how one would feel when that shit does happen. he wasn't my kid so if i was told i wouldn't understand they would be in the right in telling me that. i can say like i said i think i have an idea but that's all i can say and though i may i clearly don't have an idea what they are going through. also it's odd seeing Ringo with Gray Hair since he's got none now my guess is he dyes/colors it. but than he was/is an alcoholic that has since gotten sober so that and with lennon getting killed he looked 20 years older than he actually was at the time he was interviewed

+simon watts I think John was more than ready to leave England for NYC. He loved the place. It's ironic that George Harrison was so close to being murdered in his own home in peaceful Henley-Upon-Thames, England. Just some food for thought.
@mmb15725 жыл бұрын
John loved NY too. It wasn't NY, it was the creep who traveled to NY to kill him. He could have traveled to the UK too, just like George Harrison had someone stab him. So don't blame NY or Yoko. Blame the creep

I kind of get what Yoko was saying but for her to say that to Ringo when he was grieving as well was just wrong. He and John had still been friends for years, so yeah he'd have a right to be upset.
@AnyoneCanSee4 жыл бұрын
Yoko wanted John completely for herself and that included all the grief apparently. I heard some outtakes of them in the studio and she says to John 'They don't understand your music, John." She has now put her name onto Imagine as the first songwriting credit. So history will record that she wrote it. She really is an f-ing piece of work. Julien had to buy his own dad's letters at auction when Yoko sold them. That's how disgusting she is.

This is a hard watch. I'd hate to be famous. "The boys" That seems to have annoyed them all. I read one of Michael Palins diary books and he said George Harrison also really resented being called one of "The boys" too.

Don’t slam Barbara. She was the best. She got the interview, she got this documented, she was able to get Ringo to open up. This is history, and it’s bigger than any one person or one moment.

Having said that... this is before he got sober. He’s clearly had a belt or two. It’s like sitting with him at a pub after a few pints. Great interview.
