RIP Jay Briscoe. I am truly astonished. Rest In Peace to a true legend of our business.

When others were leaving for "greener" pastures, Jay and Mark were the cornerstones of RoH. It was well beyond time that they both had their time in "the big leagues," and its a tragedy that we will never get to see Jay in an AEW or WWE ring. Or any ring again, for that matter. Hold your loved ones close, you never know when it will be their or your time. RIP to an absolute legend.

Did this match have a hype package? I love the backstory of this match. Jay came for Joe's belt years ago and was just beaten bloody in a match that both establishd Jay Briscoe as tough enough to be a potential contender for the belt and defined Joe as an unstoppable champion. Now Joe's going for Jay's belt and Jay is the man, but the phantom of that old match is still there. Jay looks amazing here, probably the best in his career, and when he walked out he looked like he could have been the champion in any promotion in the world. Nice to see how happy both men were at the end; Joe loved Jay and wanted to give him this moment. RIP Jay.

This was a great match. This is how more matches today should be. Every move made sense. Like every next decision was the next logical decision of someone trying to 'win' a contest. It wasn't moving from high spot to high spot fishing for pops. They got their pops by telling a great in ring story and bringing the crowd along for it. That's how you suspend disbelief and get a crowd into it.
