Has anyone else noticed the elven king's gotten fatter? When did Sauron setup the volcano mechanism if he was just a poor asshole who couldn't convince a few dozen orcs to serve him? Also, this was more entertaining than the series itself.

The general problem with films after The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is that the Hobbit and beyond essentially are made in hindsight to what happened in Lord of the Rings. That wasn’t the case with Tolkien himself, he wrote to expand the world as shown in The Hobbit. He developed the concept of Sauron more fully with Lord of the Rings, while teasing you in the end of The Hobbit that there just might be something wrong with the Ring Bilbo got from Gollum. This is the final trash heap, where they figure that they are better than the story being presented. Hell, even the Lord of the Rings references in Castlevania Easter Eggs seem to show more understanding of LOTR than whomever is writing this.

The majority of the writers on this show appear to be producers from past shows so again there isn't real writing talent behind the scripts.

Oh boy oh boy, it's back. Here's to hoping that if you have to slog through all of this, maybe you'll also get a ton of channel growth in the process again? Episode one is really frontloaded. o_o Take a look at the plot summary in this video, there is SO much going on here. I know you gotta set up what else is coming but give the audience some room to breathe here!
