Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is apparently a huge success, the financial bet has more than paid off and everyone loves it. That's why they're talking about how much they're changing in season 2! The numbers they provide are damning when you run the math. The total run time of the first season is 557 minutes, and they claim 24B minutes watched... while also claiming 100M viewers. If 100M viewers had watched the season, the number would be 55.7B minutes, but they're only claiming 43% of that total. This is all just part of Amazon's non-stop campaign to promote RoP Season 2.. With most series, they tend to wait til they're closer to the next season before promoting things.. Rings of Power, on the other hand, was such a disaster that Amazon will release something, ANYTHING, any sort of nonsense article, practically every five minutes, just to remind people that there's more to come, and yes, it will be 'better' ('we promise'). For a billion dollar, supposedly 'Tolkien' series (you have to squint REALLY hard to see it), Rings of Power is an absolute DISASTER... I subscribed to amazon prime because they were offering it to me for free for 30 days, I used the 30 days to order my Xmas gifts and watched a few movies. I didn’t even consider watching RoP… I cancelled Amazon prime as soon as I had received all the Xmas gifts I ordered. I do this every year, I would never ever pay for amazon prime.

They claim to have broken a record for young viewers: but I know there was an article that said most of RoP's viewers were over 35. Also, he says there was a surge after the show ended: If that's true, it could be because, for the week after the last ep, they were REALLY pushing the show on users, as they had the RoP icon taking up the whole front screen of Prime Video with a large PLAY button. I accidentally put it in my watchlist when trying to get off that screen. But I think he's fibbing, since RoP fell off of Amazon's own top spot pretty quickly after the end. Mid November or so it was number 4 for their original shows (after The Peripheral, The English, and Mammals). Mind you, it's behind shows that didn't get nearly the amount of promoing that it did.

I think with all the comments, the author probably doesn't read all (or even any) of the comments. I hope Disparu reads this. I am a sixty year old Scottish female. Two things got me today, the death of Terry Hall and the absolute hoot I find Disparu. I don't even watch half the stuff he refers to, I just laugh at his take on it. When you laugh out loud about something you have not even seen then you know for sure the commentator is funny as fuck. Disparu is funny as fuck.

Ya know Amazon large viewing numbers really doesn't make something a success (at least culture wise). There are plenty of cult classics which got robbed dirty in numbers but yet they are now beloved by more people who watched after it's initial release or run. Every person who watched ROP was either a hate watcher and just laughing at how bad it was OR they are someone who has zero experience with a decent fantasy series in their life and delude themselves into thinking ROP is somehow good. I could name Anime, Manga, Books, Comics and more in the fantasy genre that would run circles round ROP in every possible manner you could think of. Hell I wish half the books I owe got an TV adaptation (Not by Amazon though) they deserve it more than ROP does. ROP could have been a trend setter instead we somehow got the most generic fantasy ever created... which is wild considering all modern fantasy draws inspiration from Tolkien.

The most frustrating thing is that there are experienced, quality female writers who deserve to have a voice because they are talented - not because they are women. I'm a writer, not for television, but I still feel insulted by the implication that women aren't good enough writers and instead must be 'uplifted' by virtue of our gender to get a platform. If you are good at something, you should be given the opportunity to demonstrate your skill - regardless of identity. It means so less if you are just given the achievement for being in the right place, right time and wearing the right political hat.

They’re also not mentioning, that this is the FIRST year that Amazon Prime has an EXCLUSIVE Thursday Night NFL prime time game. So, you have to sign up to Prime to watch Thursday Night NFL Football in America. Those games air weekly from September through December. Thursday night NFL ratings drew between 7 to 13 million live viewers, each game, with 32 different fanbases, in different regions of the USA, having to sign up to Prime, throughout the season, in order to see their team’s game. That may also account for the new prime signups, starting in September and continuing past ROP’s season ending? I bet they conveniently run up until Christmas, with the shopping Holiday and the last Thursday night game of the season on prime being this Thursday. I love how ROP is taking credit! Looking at Return on investment, Amazon better hope the new subscribers are from the NFL game, because Amazon are paying the NFL 1 billion dollars per year, for the next 10 years, for exclusive rights to broadcast that One game per week. That billion per year is just for the rights, all the production costs for Amazon to broadcast the game are on top of that. They do also sell commercials ads to run during the game, since it’s built into the NFL broadcast model, which is why there’s a 3rd party tracking live viewers and can’t easily lie about it, since they’re charging advertisers.

A little anecdote to emphasize the difference in quality of RoP and other shows: A friend of mine, like me a total fantasy nerd for decades, did not watch RoP after E3; he was "bored to sleep". When he asked me if i knew any good series, i recommended Terminal List and one week later, we talked about that show, because he binged it, even with him being a hard working family guy with not very much spare time to do so. Fun fact, he rated TL a 7/10 and still binged it, because at no point was it boring, his main complain was it was very weird at the end and he didn't like the finale. @Disparu please keep up with your clips, as they are so much entertaining and as i follow you since the reactions on Wheel of Time, saison one, i can really attest to your improving way of tackling all this Hollywood crap. Way to go 🤘🤪🤘
