I am glad you are okay. Sorry about the loss of your baby. :(

It is always appreciated to hear back from people - I don't know what the process is in the US but in the UK fire crews very rarely hear any more about the patient after they have left the scene unless they don't survive. I'm sorry to hear of your injuries although it is helpful for crews to know and learn from in the future. I do hope you make a full recovery a friend of mine suffered similar injuries but survived and is now up and fully active. All the best

I'm glad your okay. I'm sorry to hear about your injuries and the loss of your baby. Were you wearing your seat belt? If not I suggest you might show this video at your local schools and explain what happened. I was an EMT-I for 12 years and I could tell at first glance the difference between those who had on seat belts and those that didn't. Nine times out of 10 if they were under the dash--they didn't have their seat belts on in a front end crash. I think the crew did a good job. It's sad that many people are bad mouthing the woman who was the Paramedic. If you are the senior medical person on scene you have to take charge.

That woman needs to shut her mouth and let the pros do their job. That's why they're there. The firefighters and Emts aren't there for show. Currently I'm a welding student but I'm gunna do firefighting classes along side my welding course. I seriously can't stand when people think they know what they're doing yet have no clue.

Heavy entrapment takes alittle longer...not going to arm chair this video like some...If you can do better jump on a rescue and give it a shot...There were mistakes but patients were removed and seemed like a rural area and departments...not every department can have the best equipment and training. ..do what ya can with what ya have ...and guys get some eye pro and gloves there cheap and will save needless injuries.
@littleblitz823911 жыл бұрын
Having been a firefighter years back, your summation is spot on. I can understand removing the roof due to pregnancy. Oh, the PD was on a donut run.
@OptimusBananas12 жыл бұрын
oh how i love back seat rescue techs you could not see the patient in this video she was under the dash with her foot wrapped around the brake pedal we did what we had to do to prevent further damage to the pt who also was pregnant and semi concious. this video definately was not enough to show PT condition.
@bighunter315er12 жыл бұрын
actaully as you can see they dont have much access to the driver so they did what they could with what they had to work with. im sure the FF/EMT that posted this video wasnt looking for all of your negative comments. leave advise and tips but dont bash what they did...

To the untrained eye this went pretty smoothly, for those who have been in the fire service longer then a day this is sloppy
@ntfd12512 жыл бұрын
I somewhat agree. A good department can remove the roof in a short amount of time. The problem at this scene is that nobody was given any orders. When we pull up our medics tell us exactly what they want and we go to work. They actually prefer us to remove the roof to give them more room to work in a heavy entrapment situation. We would have went with a double door drop on the passenger side in this situation.
@dazedconfuzed610 жыл бұрын
whos the annoying lady advising on everything you do and say. About the IV and about the window smash? If she isn't helping she should have been pushed aside and let the rescuers work without the condescending comments which make an already tough rescue worse.

I just say that civilians who have no need to be standing in the area to be moved away so fire personnel can do their job, other than that great job guys, no faults found.
@tentomdrummer12 жыл бұрын
is it just me, or did that take a long time? i've beed to several BAD MVA Extract's, and they dont normally take that long.
@OptimusBananas11 жыл бұрын
the driver was pregnant and had a compound fracture to her right ankle area and was slid underneath the steering wheel ...its easy to be a monday night quarter back..... as for the roof it made easier aceess for patient care and removal
@joecat85669 жыл бұрын
Only thing I see that I'd do different is the guys trying to cut the B post all in one bite. Much faster and easier to go at opposing 45 degree angles on either side of the post, lift the roof off and do a side fold of the b post with two more pie cuts at the pinch weld below.

I see a lot of people standing around that fire personnel making it hard for the emts to work

Why keep the siren going right up to the car ?? All that heavy traffic I suppose !
@MaxSafeheaD8 жыл бұрын
It's usually a good idea to signal a warning before breaking glass. Check if it will wind down first to save making a mess of sharps harards. Alternatively if you position a sheet correctly, it will collect the glass or at minimum stop it spraying all over the patient and crew.
@ATFDFF12 жыл бұрын
Then you've never been to a BAD MVA. A 30+ minute extrication isn't unheard of, by any means.
@jeff139911 жыл бұрын
9-1-1 service calls aren't suppose to be txt book perfect, we are there to help those whom need our help after a traumatic event or medical emergency so for that GOOD JOB! Questions arise from lack of Safety for first responders and members of the public as it seems the vehicles were not stabilized (bribed) and extrication began before safety measures were implemented. Secondly lack of C-Spine control due to mechanism of MVC/MVA and the significant intrusion on both vehicles involved.
@p2thumper0712 жыл бұрын
what a freaking cluster, someone needs to step up and take control of a scene like this. Poor patient.
@JoeMalato12 жыл бұрын
Yes the civie issue was a problem... I was refering to the multitude of "rescuers" standing aroudn in an active extrication zone, no live line charged (that we can see) and horrible use of proper PPE.

DID THEY ALL MAKE IT?
@motionmay12 жыл бұрын
you do not need to remove a roof to push a dash,use the spreaders on the door and use rams to push dash simple and clear cut. Saying this however seeing how the car was wedged in the ditch against drivers door. they made the right call taking the roof
@DavidParker108910 жыл бұрын
Great job guys. But lets have a little more communication before you start swinging things and breaking glass. A heads up to all interior and exterior crew is always helpful.

Pt care is number one, first Ambulance on scene should be on patient care, definitely need to work on apparatus assignments
@arwelroberts212310 жыл бұрын
I was a paramedic for 20 years and I have never seen such chaos. How many fire fighters does it need to get a patient out of a car in the US? Something like 30. 2 to work on the patients in the car 3 to work on the roof and doors 2 to bring equipment from the ambulance as needed and 23 to get in the way and hinder the working personnel. In the UK we would have 2 Ambulances with a medic and a tech on each. and 1fire appliance maybe 2 if the situation was severe. Why have so many standing around.
@oxrelanaxo10 жыл бұрын
I agree with Kyle. I'm an emt in the US ...maybe these guys were having a rough day..I noticed no one was taking command. Which is common with volunteers. You get a lot more volunteers who like to go out and help than you would with a paid company.. they did good. They got her out alive and in a good time. Yes it was a tad sloppy and could of done better but hey we all have bad days where shit isant going to be done perfectly..all that matters is the patient which most were focused on.. I've seen how u guys operate by watching KZbin videos may not be Ur company but u guys have some shitty vids on here too.. watch wat you say
@dazedconfuzed610 жыл бұрын
so your saying your departments lazy and undercutting. I'd rather have 20 over eager people wanting to help than 5 guys that are there just because they have to be. what happens when those 5 guys don't know a positive plan of action or one gets hurt? With 20 people there is always back up or breaks on long rescues.
@MaxSafeheaD8 жыл бұрын
Certainly is different in the US especially in rural parts staffed only by volunteers. Im retained in the UK and even here it can be tough to get training past the minimum unless you actively seek it out. Given the complete lack of full-time fire jobs over the last 6 years, I'm very tempted to try for a paramedic role. I'd have to start as a critical care support worker, any advice?
@MichalMotors12 жыл бұрын
thats not true at all. all the ambulances at my station have some type of extrication tools. jaws of life. so when we get to an entrapment we start cutting right away. if fire doesnt show they dont show whatever.

The scene seems a little hectic at times with little control. Regardless of sometimes looking for the NITPICKING and “this is how it should have been done” there is one thing that should be considered and that is doing what is best, what is right for the Patient(s) and hopefully all the (-) & (+) feedback will help us all to develop better skills.
@p2thumper0712 жыл бұрын
Wrong again. Im a paramedic firefighter, I cant stand it when extrication takes this long, waste of time resources and def poor pt care. You would be surprised how often people ask if we should pop a roof and i say no, just pop a door and I can get them out. I dont say this to blow smoke i say it cause this is a cluster and the pt was the one who suffered.

i agree with you on this one but in an accident like this. you have to assume they have neck or back injuries.... but i am disgusted at the guys bustin windows without any warning to patient or protection for the patient and i mean.... trying to open the door after that??? all he was dooing is causing unneeded motion.... annoys me
@danielfranklin925011 жыл бұрын
that wasn't a smart extrication . too many people , busting windows with no cover for pts . no hose line laid out . come on get smart guys
@P1ECHO11 жыл бұрын
If you are not doing something productive on the scene, step back and let the people who are do what they need to do. Extrications are interesting but you you don't need to hover over and watch like a 2 year old watching the freaking wiggles.

this is a horible respone... all they need to do for the pass. was a fender pinch and simpily pop the hinges. for the driver i have no idea why they would pull the roof unless he had a back or hip injury.. just do a releif cut on the inner fender under the dash and do a simple dash roll with a ram. and the guys removing windows need a training lesson in extrication! no sheets over pt's or duct tape on the window to prevent flying glass....

@p2thumper0712 жыл бұрын
Pet peeve when people take the time to remove the whole roof when if you just pop one door and have a person inside you can extricate.
