There's just an amazing aura that goes along with the Nassau Coliseum. It's impossible to describe. It's home, and because of all the failed plans and renovations, Isles fans are protective of our home. So when they play there, it's a privilege to experience it again. We don't take it for granted, so we are boisterous and enjoy every minute of the experience. Can't wait for Belmont, will miss the Coliseum for sure, yet I will gladly forget that Barclays ever existed once the Belmont Arena is built.

I can only imagine. The fan base in Edmonton would go absolutely bonkers if the Oilers decided to even play a regular season game at old Rexall Place. I'm a pretty big nostalgia guy, any attempts to revisit the past to remind you how far you've come is always a win/win! Thanks for watching!

i’ve been to 30+ games at the coliseum and 2 at barclays. coliseum is way better looking feeling and provides a better experience

Ive been going to the Coliseum since I was a kid, and Ive been to 25 or so games at Barclays for hockey since the Islanders started playing there. The Islanders going back to the Coliseum starting December 2018 was the best thing that couldve happened. I went to Barclays because I love the Islanders and hockey, and it was the only choice. Its a night and day difference in the atmosphere, and energy between the two buildings, with the Coliseum being the heart of the fanbase, and EVERYBODY'S preferred arena location. Belmont is a welcomed, modern era arena, that has great potential at 19,000 seating capacity. Rumors are, the Belmont project is meeting heavy opposition from the community. As usual. Hope they can get the project started with minimal delays.

I wonder what the drawback is if they just had all the games back at the Nassau? Man what I wouldn't give to see a playoff game there. Even on TV you can just tell it's just a crazy atmosphere. I have read some articles on Belmont that makes me wonder the likelihood of it being completed in two seasons. I guess only time will tell. Thanks for watching!

Rinks Around the League the NHL does not deem the Nassau Coliseum an "NHL ready" arena due to the low seating capacity. As of now, capacity is at 13,917. Significantly lower than every arena in the NHL. Ive been to both home games of Round 1 against Pittsburgh, and the atmosphere never disappoints!!

Love the channel. I grew up going to the Coliseum and there is no other arena in the league like it. The place was an absolute dump, but the volume and energy were incredible. You could almost feel the history every time you walked in there. I always use to say the building had its own personality. Being in there with no fans a couple times was truly an experience. You can close your eyes and truly feel the past.

I'm a huge Islanders fan. I've been to games at NVMC pre & post renovation, been to games at Barclays too. Every game I've gone to at Barclays, I sat center ice in the upper bowl. I didn't have any issues there at all with the sightlines. I also live in Brooklyn, so the commute was super simple. With that said, I'm glad they're no longer going to be playing there. There's nothing quite like a game at NVMC. The roof is so low & the arena gets so loud. Even during their horrible years in the 90s where just a few thousand were in the arena, it was loud. I can't wait for Belmont though. As much as I love NVMC, it is an anchor for the Isles. They deserve a modern home.

Was talking to an Islanders ticket rep and it is confirmed that they will be splitting games between Brooklyn and the Coliseum again next season. It's ultimately the league's decision for this. If it were up to the Islanders and BSE Global (the company that operates both venues), all 41 games will be at the Coliseum.

Yeah hopefully. It's kind of silly to be playing in 2 arena. Construction for Belmont is said to begin this month but I've yet to see them dig a shovel into the ground. Sorry about your Oilers.

Took a road trip from Niagara Canada to see the Sabres at the Coliseum this afternoon and let me tell you the Coliseum is a phenomenal place to see a game! Just that intimate on top of the action old barn feeling there is nothing else like it in the NHL! 100/10 reccomend anyone to make the trip to see a game before the new rink at Belmont opens

Yes, the small barns like Joe Louis/Rexall/Nassau/SAP are a dying breed. Enjoy them while they last!

I have been to both places. The fan base of the Islanders is Nassau/Suffolk counties on Long Island. We like to drive to the game and tailgate before hand. At the Coli even with traffic I would be home after the game in about 30 mins. Barclays, taking the train it was about 2 hours. This was pretty unacceptable if you had to get up for work early the next day. Barclays has weird seating (because it was not designed for hockey) Some seats you almost have to look over your shoulder to see the other end. Behind the goal on one end you cant even see the near goal. In the Coli every seat is right on top of the action. I prefer the old barn, even with its lack of modern amenities. It's old, its loud and there really isn't a bad seat in the house.

Tavares returning to the Coliseum was as loud as I've heard it, since Bates scored the penalty shot goal against Cujo in 2002 playoffs. It's a joke that they keep playing in Brooklyn.

Just had to let you know; there are no cars in the corners in European hockey rinks. That is a Skoda sponsorship for the WC, they do that in North America aswell when it's played there.

Interesting fact about nassau coliseum history is that the legendary 1987 livin on a prayer live bon jovi performance was filmed at nassau coliseum and I became obsessed with nassau coliseum and I built it in minecraft.

Grew up 10 minutes from the Coliseum & it was old, outdated & falling apart in the late 80s. I since moved off the Island, but did have the chance to attend a game in Barclays Center. If Barclays was longer so the ice could be more centered and less obstructed seats, it would be a great arena for hockey. That said, I can't wait to see the new Belmont Arena & will make sure I fly out to experience it opening year. I hope that they can take the soul & the roar of the Coliseum and bring it to a modern hockey palace.

That's awesome. I would love to see a playoff game at old Nassau. I agree that Barclay's is actually a great facility but just not built for hockey. Plus knowing that New Yorkers are pretty proud of where in the state they're from. I can only imagine that Long Islanders are pretty pissed they have to go to Brooklyn to go watch their team play.haha. Thanks for watching!

Did u know an arena in Suffolk county Ronkonkoma is being built as well and apparently if Belmont does fail the Ronkonkoma arena can be an option but islanders owners and management seems pretty confident Belmont will happen, also been to both and will pick the coliseum any day, easier travel, more energy the only thing better at Barclays is more bathrooms and less lines

Huh, I'll have to check that Ronkonkoma building out, never heard of it! I'm sure Belmont will work out but you're always nervous until ground is actually broken, you just never know these days! Great video man. As an Islanders fan I can tell you the main thing we don't like about Barclays is its not home. That building and Shea Stadium were my childhood. On a side not your pronunciation of Nassau hurt my ears. Just say it like Nass-Saw. Keep up the good work even though I'm gonna hate the next video due to the Rangers sucking.

I hope the Islanders play all their games at the Coliseum next season. I hate Barclays Center. It's not a hockey arena obviously but also the staff there are really rude. Doesn't make you want to go back for there for Islander games or any event there for that matter. They don't know much about hockey to the point where they wanted to throw me out for throwing a hat onto the ice during a hat trick. As for the newly renovated Coliseum, they really only painted it, put new seats in and wrapped it in tin foil. Other than that, it's really the same as it was. I still would rather see all 41 home games there. By the way, great channel.

Oh wow sorry for the late response, never got a notification. Yeah the future remains unclear. Hopefully Belmont happens but construction hasn't started yet. No one know what next year will bring, if they're going to split the games or have them all at one arena. It's kind of silly to call 2 arenas home. Bit confusing too.

Yeah it's kinda messy. Another reason why this series is so important. To stress how important these facilities are to the life of a franchise and relationship between the city and the team. We'll be keeping an eye out!

I just don’t get why the designers of Barclays had hockey at least in mind during construction, just in case a hockey team was to play there someday. Just crazy to me

I think the designers weren't told until late in the game. By the time the Islanders decided to leave Nassau and not build, perhaps too late? I dunno. But the same thing happened in Toronto. ACC (Scotia Bank Arena) was built for the Raptors and only when MLSE decided to buy the Raptors and the ACC, it was then they retrofitted to host the Leafs.

Barclays just has bad juju overall. Both times I went there ended up being a delay of game, both due to power outages. I went a full year apart too, the second outage lasted close to 30 minutes. The cheap seats absolutely suck. If you lose your balance you WILL tumble down several rows of spectators. Very steep, very narrow, and oddly tall - even by cheap seat standards.
