Rob, so I am using a Chapin International G405 (found on Amazon) in lieu of the crappy Salt Terminater apparatus. The Chapin is well put together, but the flow rate on the Chapin is published at about .5 gallons/ minute( is that enough flow?). I am seeing water pissing out the side ports. With a reservoir of about 32 ozs ( I am only adding 8 ozs to the reservoir). I guess I am concerned because the mixture of Salt Terminater doesn't appear to dilute much (the color still seems pretty green after the 8 minutes I am flushing). Am I getting enough salt terminater through with my mixture? What are you using to mix in the salt Terminater? Can you post a link where we can buy it? How long do you flush? Thanks for
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41623 жыл бұрын
That's the same one I use. I fill the enitre bowl with salt terminator. I flush each motor about 10 min each. I use that same bowl until it starts getting diluted in color (maybe 3 or 4 flushes) You are doing it right!

Guys my ski locker seems to hold water when I clean the interior of the boat on Yamaha ls2000 - any ideas?
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41623 жыл бұрын
1st check all plugs within the boat to make sure all are draining properly. Then try and check for a clog. You can try to put your hose directly into the drain and force water out. Or try a shop vac to suck it out or blow it out.

When I flush out my 2021 ar190, after about 5 mins or so, the pump starts to smoke. Is that normal? Water comes out from the bottom and pee hole. Is it steam? Exhaust? Will it over heat?
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41623 жыл бұрын
More than likely its exhaust. You would be able to smell any kind of smoke..

@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41626 жыл бұрын
Patricia Diegel spraying with salt terminator will help dissolve the salt but will still need to be washed and rinsed.. the product itself will leave streak marks..

Yes, the bilge will remove sitting water in the bottom of the engine compartment.

So how long should we let our engines cool down before spraying in the engine compartment?
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41623 жыл бұрын
Well, I wouldn't spray them immediately after shutting them down. I normally start with rinsing everything else first and then do the motors last; that way they get about 20 min or so to cool..

hey Rob. You mentioned the bilge pump here so I thought I'd inquire about something. 2 things. By spraying the Engine and bay with the terminator in line, is that how you get the bilge to pass terminator? allowing all that water to collect at bottom of Bay so bilge kicks on and flushes it? Also, how much water do you usually have come out of the drain plug after a days use?
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41628 жыл бұрын
Yes. All water, weather its you spraying it or from people getting in and out of the boat while on the water or rain, all ends up into the lower area so it can either run out of the plug in the back of the boat (if its on a trailer) or to be pumped out by the bilge.. The terminator will help break down any salt or corrosion within the inner workings of the bilge. There isn't a standard amount of water that drains out of the plug. with us it really depends on if the kids are out with us... They run through the boat jumping off of the front into the water ALL FRICKING DAY so we will get more water than usual, but, If it gets to full the bilge should kick on automatically anyways. the plug will be mostly the little puddles that the bilge didn't get or didn't run back to the bilge because the angle of the boat wasn't enough. If you can get it on an angle you will get more water... Hope that answers your questions.. Rob

when i flush my motors on a 2007 sx230 one at a time my lights are dim (red) no alarms but doesn't seem right had it in the salt water all day brought it home to flush the motors and seemed they were going to over heat any suggestions
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41626 жыл бұрын
Kevin, Not sure why the lights would be dim but I wouldnt worry about it too much. These boats are pretty smart and if it detects an issue it will let you know. I have had issues with overheating in the past while flushing and it turned out to be a lack of pressure in my hose and not allowing the water to circulate enough. If it overheats it will scream at you, just turn the motor off. My thoughts are simple, if it doesnt set off an alarm then its ok.

Thanks Rob I got another question probably silly but will ask anyway bought this bought used and in excellent condition theres 3 drain plugs in the engine compartment and 1 in the ski locker do you leave those open all the time Thanks Im first time boat owner and want to diy things i should be looking out for Boat is in Long Island NY 1 more what is the best book to have that explains how to take care of this type boat Thanks
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41626 жыл бұрын
No such thing as a silly question. Yes, I leave all open to allow continuous drainage. I prefer to have all water drain straight to the bilge in the engine compartment. There are all sorts of literature on how to maintain boats but I have found that things like youtube and the Jetboaters.net forum (and on Facebook) are the best sources of Yamaha boat issues..

@@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte4162 The only one we leave closed on our '14 212ss is the fuel compartment drain plug and the drain plug in the back of the boat obviously. We would not want fuel draining into the engine bay during a running engine were we to rupture a line somewhere along the way, but I think that's just us being paranoid.
