Nope. Never will. And in this case, with a rare sighting of the RGS 41 after months of restoration and maintenance it is now back at Knotts in CA.

The good ol' 41 needs to be seen in some western movies... here in HOLLYWOOD studios like MGM, Warner Bros., Paramount, Universal and RKO all had their own locos and rolling stock, but long gone now. The Sierra Railroad up by Jamestown kept going, worked on it for a BACK TO THE FUTURE movie. My uncle worked on over two dozen westerns featuring the vintage locos. MGM's loco was sold to Old Tucson, then the "fire" gutted it, and it was sold off again just before Al Harper bought the theme park. George, you might want to add some great western movie music to these wonderful videos, the likes of Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry... I always do!

I agree with you George, it's the same reason you heard the sounds of the engines and brakes during the iconic car chase in BULLITT without any music... But just like in BULLITT they built the anticipation and set the stage for the chase with the right tension music. The right music really enhances the emotion, it's 50% or more of the viewing experience. I presented a 2hr. DVD compilation of the best DSNGR KZbin videos to the railroad with the very best HOLLYWOOD scores you ever heard, even mixed in the loco sounds, and still found the right moments to let the locos speak for themselves. I was wondering it myself. I’m thinking the valve packing may have been lose or not yet seated. I didn’t see the final runs so I don’t know if they fixed it or not. But you could certainly hear it! Thank you.

Since they have an extensive rebuild shop here at the D&SN I would think it was being rebuilt and then trucked back to Knotts Berry Farms. But that is just a guess. I was wondering the same thing.

It lives at Knotts and was here for an extensive restoration. This was the finished product and it’s been shipped back to CA and probably running already. They wanted it there for Christmas in the park.

Flatbed truck. They remove the stack and it’s on a lowboy trailer. Tender on a separate truck. I wish I’d have been able to catch it leaving.
